The Japantown OBON Festival was scheduled for July 25th, 2004 but will now be moved to the NEXT following SUNDAY August 1st, 2004 due to a scheduling conflict with the J-town Committee and the City of San Francisco Special Events Planning department - J-town can NOT close the streets due to some technicality BEYOND OUR CONTROL - Permits and liability.......However, they will be moving it to the following SUNDAY AUGUST 1st, 2004- Street CLosure and ALL -

THERE ARE A TOTAL OF 2 EVENTS FOR YOU GUYS TO COME TOO! both free admission! whoo hoo!

#1 show IS THE *FREE* car meet/showcase in the parking garage under the KABUKI THEATER in the Japantown Mall on JULY 25th, 2004 - FREE CAR REG and FREE ADMISSION to all types opr cars (makes and models) - you just pay parking and it's around $4-$10 depending on where how long you stay - FUNCTION BEFORE FASHION SUMMER EVENT in J-town!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just like the one in JANUARY - over 450+ cars - this time I will have the staff at the garage leave the ventilation fans on all morning and day. Also, make it mandatory to have all cars' engines turned off and alarms left on VALET! The event is 10am-3pm

As always, free general admission to anyone who wants to enjoy the car showcase NO CAR REGISTRATION FEE's and TON's of "FREE" FUN FOR EVERYONE! The last show is on the 360 video release #10 THE STANDARD www.360vm.com - go buy it! U might see your car on 360 video!

#2 CAR SHOW is the following SUNDAY AUGUST 1st and this is the BIG ONE! Larger than the CHERRY BLOSSOM FESTIVAL and a larger street closure for just the cars! it's 11am-4pm and *FREE to everyone - Car registration is $18 for pre-reg thru jdmtheory@hotmail.com or $25 at the gate the day of the event - save $$ and pre-reg - ALL MAKES AND MODELS from VW's, to FORDS, and IMPORTS.......

JDM Theory is asking you to spread the word to people who are not active in the forums and to our friends who cannot be contacted via email. Get that word of mouth thread going to people know that it's still on but just on another date - OBON form july 25th moved to august 1st

OK ....

The OBON Festival "WAS" on JULY 25th but the "LAST MINUTE" , the J-town comittee decided to move it to AUGUST 1st (the followig SUNDAY) - SO the OBON FESTIVAL is now AUGUST 1st - 11am-4pm

We (JDM THEORY) were concerned that so many people have the old flyer saying it's still JULY 25th and will show up to J-toen and there's nothing going on - SO we swindled a parking garage for a *FREE Car meet/showcase so that we can still offer something for everyone on the O.G. date....The last car meet we through in J-town drew over 450+ cars - It was in January called Funtion B4 Fashion--> It's on the 360 DVD "#10 THE STANDARD"

JULY 25th 10am-3pm
FUNCTION B4 FASHION - SUMMER GET TOGETHER
J-Town Parking Garage -->UNDER THE KABUKI THEATER on FILLMORE
*FREE CAR MEET/SHOWCASE

AUGUST 1st 11am-4pm
13th ANNUAL J-town OBON FESTIVAL/Carnival and CAR SHOW
Japantown STREET CLOSURE - Like the Cherry Blossom
*FREE ADMISSION to SPECTATE and enjoy the festival
$18 car pre-reg and $25 car reg at the gate the day of the event
POST St. closure from the MALL HOTEL to WEBSTER (HUGE!)

well to add to your comment..................

the CHP had a booth right next to a couple of Nissans and 240's and they werer asking about engine swaps and other smog info....some people who dontr knwo the whole story are blowing it all up to something larger...it's not that bad...CHP has a info booth for the community event and they walked around in uniform just looking at cars...a few ( or should I say one) officer talked to a car owner about his mods that he had posted on a sheet display for his ride..... here's a link..scroll down the pictures and see the small drama...... :eek6: http://www.speedyzx.com/JDMshow041804/JDMshow.html

This meet will get smaller and smaller unless these statments are bogus.
If you cannot insure the safety of fellow racers getting noted by CHP or other law enforcment why would they risk exposure to these tactics.
keep it underground, it has nothing to do with the city.
