Yeah, I guess I *could* spend $2K on HCI (okay, I'll be an importer and go with IHE)...that should get me close to 150 bhp and high 15s. Maybe I'll spend $3,800 for a supercharger kit. 150 rwhp and low 15s. Another $700 boost upgrade and I might just crack fourteens. Or, I could spend $5,000 on a turbo kit and see 200 hp and be knocking on the thirteen second club's door. I'd love to add a $800 nitrous kit to the turbo package, but the Miata's rods wouldn't take it and it's a $500 investment for a new set.

Or, I can spend (conservatively) $2K on a Fox Mustang and $1,000 in gears, nitrous, and tires and beat the shit out of the turbo'd, nitrous-inhaling Miata.

My point?

You seem to like drag racing. There just aren't many sport compacts that make good drag cars.

It's fine to want to modify your car. But if drag racing is your thing, why not pick something that's good at it? It's a lot more fun to run even a 12 second car down the strip than a 16 second 'box.

either the people who owned those corvettes are stupid or you have enough rice on your car (body kit, stickers, and so on) that it inspired them to race you. i see some average "sport compact" on the street, i don't give them the time of day. i see one with the autozone wing, the fart can, and all the stickers...well it's obvious that the owner thinks they have some kind of race car. so i'd make 'em prove it. and when you're the loser of that race, then your true nature is exposed, since "loser" is only one letter away from "poser."

I also own a 1987 supra. That's a turbo charged v6 with RWD. not a faggot ass fwd N/A 4 banger.
I don't hate imports or sport compacts, just anything with FWD.

i use to have a del sol, and nitrous.....it only took me 2 b-16's to get wise...i have many cars, '66 malibu,'53 gmc truck, 1973 mercury capri.....various datsun z's, a turbo laser and an rx-7.....and a bunch of mustangs, classics and fox bodies........no i do not v/8 on the brain......if you spent more time working and less time argueing online you might have a better outlook on life.

I think that the point of most people is that they are not interested in this race. You did your own assessment of the race, and you're probably right. The only way to find out is to race.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing reading the replies. The new Cavs are quick, for a little I4. I have stomped LOTS of Civics and Accords with my car, but the one race against a new Cav put me behind by 2 car lengths. My car is by no means fast, but that shocked me. And, YES, it was stock, unlike the Civics and Accords I KILLED! As far as the "Muscle Car" people, yeah, they have a reason to laugh. They are killers in the 1/4 mi arena!!! But put one in a road race, and my "slow" car will hand them their ASS! Done it before, and will continue doing it!

lastly why is it that everybody with a fwd econo-car thinks these things handles great. go to any track,autocross or dragstrip and you will see that most of the time the fastest cars all have good lots of h/p and rear wheel drive........there is a reason why f-1,nascar,irl,top fuel...etc. all have lots of h/p and rear wheel drive. it is because they want to go fast, and they are a lot smarter than the fool trying to race mom's fwd grocery getter.
