I driven some Mits 3000 GT turbos that would give a vette a run for its money on the street. I can see one of those probably selling in your price range, but would likely be a fixer-upper. The link here says a "competitor" is a Nissan 300zx turbo... I beg to differ. I was a tech at a Nissan dealer and drove many 300zx twin turbos. On the street, that 3000gt turbo will out accelerate that 300 zx.
But.... it seems like the Mits engines like to start burning oil around 120k miles. Ring wear. Check them out... including Caravan/Voyager with 3.0L in them at a traffic light when they go to pull off. Puff of blue. Like clock work... sweet trouble free engine until about 120k.
Also, the Mits DOHC 3.0L is interference. Not only do the valves interfere with the piston, the valves inferere with each other (exh and intakes collide) if the timing belt breaks. But if you just want a car that when you punch the gas you'll feel the G's big time.... after the turbo starts working... you'll feel it in that ride. Oh... and and you really should look at automatics... you don't loose pulling power during the shift (every shift is a power shift) and you get torque multiplication from the converter that is not present in a manual clutch.
