stock car to choose
I am planning to learn how to drift, but I do not have a car yet. As a college student, I am definitely starting out with a stock car but I do not know which type is suitable for future drifting.
I have the options:
Nissan 240sx
Mazda RX-7
Toyota Supra (old ones)
Acura Integra
Mitsubishi Eclipse
I am a noob to start with, but I want to work my way up. Ever since my girlfriend of one year four months left me, I have decided to chase a dream of drifting.
Thanks~

The most fun I ever had drifting was a 1984 Porsche 944. If you can find one with a new timing belt, clutch and LSD that would be good.

I second the corolla - also, add these to your list:
Datsun Z's (or any RWD decent performance Datsun)
Mazda RX7 I'd recommend the FC since they're lighter weight
Toyota MR2 would be neat to see drift - the older bodystyles
Basically, anything RWD with enough power to do a peel-out COULD drift, the main thing is you want something light weight with good weight balance and handling characteristics. Honestly, all of us here could spend all day long just listing out different cars, the main question is what is nearby, available, in your price range, and in the type of condition you're looking for.

Another question:
Should I get a stock car and slowly build it by myself (under supervision of auto-mechanic specialists)?
Cause there's couple tuned cars that I like which costs from 4k to 8k

a fixed up cars could be good and bad. someones already been beating on it, but then you never get what you put back into a car so you can get some good deals. look on CL and show us the ads, we'll let you know if it's good or not.

when your building up your car, remember to build up your skills as well. a fixed up car is nothing without a skilled driver. the more you fix up your car, the more skills needed to control your car.

Local Auto X are a great place to learn about car controll.
http://www.sdsolo.com/
and don't just limit your self to Japanese cars.
American and Euros can drift just as well.

True...
Solo 2 is a good place, imo, to learn controlled driving. Myself and other safety stewards will get a little ticked if you're appearing to intentionally drift the vehicle, especially if you're unskilled.

You guys brought up some great points. Autocross is the way to really learn your car. I thought I was the baddest driver in the world and I went out on my first Autox. I spun out! I was put in my place real quick.
Pretty cool site to check out for autox and ff cars.
