Sorry MotoMouth.... I hit the "edit" button instead of reply.... my bad.

Anyway.... do you have a 2.2 or 2.4?

With either, I suggest look into lightening the vehicle. Do you really need that back seat and carpet? Spare tire and jack? (I'd leave those in for daily driving).

That car MIGHT have a chance against my Eagle or Chevy C/K, but not much else. Honestly, street racing is stupid imo - risk of getting killed over bets, or getting pulled over and paying big fines (and in some areas losing your car).

Take it to the track imo. Now, onto the other part... making that car faster.

1) define a "racing exhaust" - do you have a simple fart-can or a full exhaust with bypass and/or cutout?
2) Upgrade the computer. A simple chip or full ecu will help quite a bit... just watch out for any of these falsified dyno-gain claims.
3) Is this gonna be a regular racer or a car that'll come out a few times for an occasional race. Nitrous for occasional racer, turbo could be considered if you want to spend that much as an option for a regular racer.

The main question is, do you feel like spending that much to make a slow, yet reliable and gas-sipping car a little less slow, much less reliable, and into a little gas guzzler? My mx6 went from 25mpg and needing $2,000 total maintenance (lights, oil change, plugs/wires, and everything else) per year to 19mpg, $5,000 total maintenance, and a little faster with all the work I've put in (that's the 1995).

Performance, Reliability, Price, choose two (quote from someone here, and it's one of the truest quotes ever regarding cars).

Glen, what'd you do?!? lol.

I goofed... I have the ability to edit someone's post. The edit button is in the same row as the reply button. Plus, I'm used to backing up and editing my own typo's a bunch of times. So... I hit "edit" and went to typing away. It wasn't until I posted did I realize I had put all of that into Moto's post and his words are long gone.... I was just going to leave it blank, but then it said I had to have something there... so I type'd "oops".. lol

I know. Keep in mind, I've been mod here before (short stint... look in the mod section for my posts), plus on probably a dozen other sites. Just that that's the first time I've seen that happen before, so I was just kidding with cha there. It can happen pretty easily, so no worries. I just wish I had cpy'd/pasted the text there when I first read it. It went something like this, though...

"I have a 1998 Pontiac Sunfire that I am looking to modify. I already have a intake, header, race exhaust (and some other stuff I've forgotten) and am looking to street race this car. etc. etc."

Sorry for the stuff I don't remember and stuff, but that's the basic just of it for those who are looking to reply.
