Got a suction mount a while back for the car, havent done a lot of shooting with it, but here was a test shot taken with the sony F828. If the road had been a little more even it would have come out nice. More to follow.

the mount was from ManFroto, it was 100 bucks + shipping.

Its a large 6" suction cup (the kind with a hand air pump on it....not the lick/stick kind....VERY stable) and then it was a stanard mount with 3 way adjustability :

360* around, Up/down and Left/Right, so you can adjust it to pretty much any angle. Ill post pics of the mount as well.

Looks pretty good.I'll bet you could do some pretty neat stuff with that mount.

PNG was that first picture taken with your mount. the mount I have works great but i want a mount that gives the camera a longer reach away from the car, so I can get shots like that, but get more of the car.....

I have used a wide angle and fisheye lens, but even so the mount I have only lets the camera get abou 6 inches away from the car....I want one that gives me a foot or more....any ideas.

The ones I have found that do this are all multiple arms and too expensive. Im looking more in the 100-150 range....not 400+ like the ones I have seen.

You mean the shot of the wheel? Yah. The Suctapus uses a Bogen 3025 tripod head to actually mount the camera, and that gives you the option of putting the camera mount stud as close as 3 inches or as far away as 7.5 inches to the surface the cups are clinging to.

I know a friend that actually made his own mounts for his car. He made a trunk mount that actually worked quite well. He also made a side mount for his m3 (e36) by attaching it to the screws on the left and right side skirts. There are 2 holes on the side for the screws. Just some ideas.

Just as an FYI, I just built another batch of Suctapus mounts, and I'm ready to ship. $50 plus shipping - send me an email at overrev(at)gmail.com and I'll give you a quote.

PNG - I might be ordering one soon... that is, if my current project (looks like something from outer space, lol) doesn't work.
