I was wondering what settings most of you use for high speed action shots say on a bright sunny day. Do you use AV, TV, P or manual? If you use manual I was wondering what F stop you might use?

I normally put it into TV mode and pick a shutter speed that will freeze the action, and let the camera worry about aperature. 1/400 is plenty fast for drag racing, which is mostly what I shoot.

PNG, Who took the picture of the 2 Titan cars racing on the front cover of Overrev? Now that was a hot picture! If you could post it up that would be great.

Like PNG .I use TV mode. For autocross usually 1/80-1/125 seems
to do the trick.

I use manual mode; setting the apropriate shutter speed - usually 125 or so and adjusting aperature as necessary. Nice thing about digital is you can shoot and setup the camera based on instant results if they are different than what you were wanting. Also use continuous shot selection so I have the ability to single shoot (what I do most of the time) or go "full auto" if a situation calls for it. I prefer manual lenses and manual focus (zone focusing, easily done on a sunny day since your aperatures will be really small giving you the wider end of depth of field) and mainly use 180mm and 300mm lenses (which give a 360mm and 600mm field of view with the E-1).

Not a Canon shooter, so I assume TV means shutter priority?

I shoot most action shutter priority, 1/50-1/80. Anything 50mph+, I step up to 1/100.

But the pictures on that little LCD screen looks a whole lot different then the one on your PC. I hate it when I take a shot thinking it looks great on the LCD only to find it out of focus or blured on the PC!

Actually I was looking into getting a portable DVD player (battery operated) with a video input. that way I can setup the small 7 inch screen and see how my results are coming along. it's about $100-200 investment but I think if your trying to get some good shots it will be worth it.

That was shot by my buddy Chris Neprasch, and heavily photoshopped.

I use S mode or M mode(if I am correct) And usually shoot with a 8 frame shot.
