AEM paperwork/carb sticker WTF??? HELP

hey i got pulled over and my car is now removed from the road only because i dont have paperwork for my aem short ram intake and dc headers...wtf? i have the carb sticker on the intake and the WELDED carb No. on the headers.

the officer said i have to have paperwork becuase peeps have been making fake carb leagal stickers....damnit!
my performance shop says i dont need paperwork and thats why i have the sticker.

so now i have to go to a city ref and ALL THE OTHER BS that goes with it. help please, this is serious im hella pissed here...
also i got a ticket for modified exaust, what a bitch, i bet my car passes smog without my muffler anyway...

sup yeah i got all the same problems...i think one of the citations he gave u was altered smog and some 24004 code i think u just put on your stock airbox and go to the ref and have them clear it...and hopefully your ticket isnt as much as mine...$220 and it says its only a fixit ticket.

alright bottom line...
i got a ticket for a smog violation for my AEM intake...
i have the carb decal w/ part no. and carb no.

officer dick's explanation was that people make fake decals to put on illegal intakes, well mine isn't fake. how can he give me a ticket because he assumes it MIGHT be fake?
why does't he arrest me because i might choke him too

i even talked to a sherif at the fremont court house and he was puzzled because he didnt understand how officer dick could decide if the decal was fake. so now i cant use my car till the 12th, when i go to the state ref

QUESTION FOR YALL:
do i need to get it smogged by the ref or can he just write me somthing saying my car is legal after all?????

i'm pretty sure you can just get it written off without doing a smog check, actually i'm almost positive you don't need a smog check, you can go to court and fight the ticket thats what i'm doing cause a dumb cop gave me a modified exhaust ticket without reason

all i say it's a b.s. ticket get it signed off if they don't belive u get teh cvc code book and show them about the carb sticker.....papers for what hell no b.s. u don't need both to prove it's legal just one....that's why i ain't trippin jus another hassle over dumbass stuff...later

i got the same ticket, go to court show them carb number, for all the parts and judge will throw it off.

BTW, your muffler has nothing to do with smog.

I had the same thing happen to me. I had the cold air AEM intake and cop in fremont decided that because I didn't have the papers I had to get it smogged. I would suggest getting a smog cause then your ticket will be easier to fight. And if you got the paper work bring it to the court with you. I did that and they threw all the other stuff on my ticket out the window with the smog violation so all i paid for was a smog check and a day off of work which I take ever week anywayz. I had other stuff like no liscense plate, mod exhaust, and car to low. I think I got away pretty good but the pain was getting the smog check by the state ref which meant I was without my car for a month. It's a pain but since they ASSUME you race there gonna keep harassing you. Just my 2 cents.

BTW its not the popo's job to determine if the carb sticker is fake or not so don't bother wasting your money getting it smoged by the ref because you already have carb numbers

true i had to get my car smogged over it...total waste of time n money passed like usual then get another ticket for that bust out the papers no comment hehe and wassup with the police assumptions that we be making fake carb stickers? dun get it

i got a ticket for the same thing....modified exaust...altered smog and all that and my state red appointment is tommorow....i took off my intake cuz i dont have carb numbers on it but i left the exaust on...you guys think itll be koo? it passed a regular smog but im not sure if state ref would trip...or am i there just for the intake?

If it is a different exhaust they'll ask for papers or a carb number on the exhaust at least mine did. If you have the carb number on the exhaust its all good. If not i'd recommend taking it off cause they might not even test you because it isn't a legal exhaust at least thats what happened to one of my buddies. He had to take off the exhaust then put his stock one on just to get it smog. The state refs look more into it then the shops that just do smog checks. It took them 45 mins for the state ref to smog my car.

As for the $220 "fixit" ticket, it's only $10 if you have the proof it's legal. If you don't, it's $220. Same for other stuff like proof of insurance. If you do have the insurance, the ticket is only $10, if not, it can be up to $2k.

Check this out...I live in Fremont too and had so much problems with the police...I still do!!! My trial is set for June 18 to prove my innocence cuz one of the officers slapped me with a misdemeanor....not an infraction!!! So anyways, enough about my issues...this is what you do...

Take your car to the State Ref and have it tested with all your modifications on it. Make sure that you have the CARB EO numbers for everything and that they match the exact year, make, and model for your car. When you pass the smog test, ask the Ref to comment on the certificate that the vehicle was tested with your modifications and that everything is legal...anyways, the Ref won't pass you if the EO number does not match the EXACT year, make and model of your car. Keep a copy of this certificate in your car and whenever you get hassled again, this is the paperwork you wanna shove in the officers face...he can't say shit!!! Bring all this paperwork to the court house and they'll most likely dismiss your citations....hope this helps....good luck
