The exhibition of speed cite is still a misdemeanor and will be a 2-point, expensive violation. I'm not sure if you can go to traffic court for that.

Last summer i got an exhibition of speed ticket.I didn't even really burn out just chirped them a little bit. well the campbell officer that is a total ass( sjpopo maybe you know him, Officer Ramirez) and said that if my car had a V8 he would under stand and said that since my car had a six cylinder in it ( a VERY modified six cylinder) that it wasn't fast. even thought my car was raised in the back and had a tach in it. anyway i went to traffic court and i was 17 when i got the ticket and the judge guy was very fair, and asked for me to tell my side of the story, and i did, and he ammended it to say "Unsafe Start" which takes down to a 1 point violation instead of a 2 point misdemeanor. NO you cannot go to traffic school for an exhibition of speed ticket ( I asked if i could). It ended up costing me $275 and a point on my license, he said if I was 18 I would have had to pay $900. If you are wondering what car i was driving it was my 1968 Plymouth Valiant that I made pretty fast for a slant six, my friend got drunk and crashed it into a tree. but he gave his 1969 Dart GTS for the trouble he caused me so it's ok. hope this helps man, and sjpopo, you never answered my question about the hood. Can I run without one legally?

I've looked all through the Vehicle Code for a section on the hood but can't find anything so far on it. Still looking.

MoparMuscle,

Remember, if you can't find it in the vehicle code, then it's not an illegal thing to do. The laws cover the things that are not legal to do, so if you hear something like "I can't find it, but I'm sure it's not legal" in the end, don't believe it.

I think you're gonna end up with a response similar to nitrous, that it could be covered under a "generic" "catch-all" unsafe vehicle section. Why it is unsafe would be up to the officer to decide I suppose, but remember, when they want to screw you, they'll find a reason...I'm sure sjpopo will agree with me. :) I think I read once that at any given time we're all breaking at least two laws, all they need to do is find them.

cool i have heard that it is legal to run with no hood but can't have anything protruding out of the hoodline. thanks for helping see if it is a ticket or not. I really need to get a hood. If you guys know where i can get a GTS hood from a 1968-1969 Dodge Dart GTS let me know please! thanks
