I'm thinking about buying this CRX that has a NOS setup, my question is if I get stopped at the races, and have the bottle and setup, but am not racing. Will they tow my car, or just gimme a ticket for the NOS. If just a ticket can I have it signed off or will the referee have to look at it?
Thanks Ofc. Hoyt

Logically, it's a hazardous material that shouldn't be carried around in a car. The gas inside the NOS bottle is under high pressure and is extemely flammable. So, in a bad wreck, first your car becomes a bomb, then a fireball. So, if the high velocity metal from the exploding canister doesn't kill you, maybe you'll live to feel yourself burn to death.
If that's not enough to stop you, then a little cite probably won't be a big issue to you. If you have a NOS hookup in your car, even if you don't have a bottle, you can be cited and sent to the ref. If you have a bottle, it can be seized for evidence/safekeeping. I still have to see if there is a special cite for illegal transportation of a hazardous material.
It's generally a bad idea to have NOS in your car on the street.

"If you have a bottle, it can be seized for evidence/safekeeping."
They can seize the bottle or the whole car?

Look VietRacer I appreciate your opinion and your reply but if you can't respect both the police and the moderator....Then you have no business in this forum. I'd also like to thank everyone especially Ofc Hoyt for their replys.
BTW just because you are a racer doesn't mean you have to hate the cops. My Dad is also a San Jose cop, and he thinks it's sorta cool that I'm into cars and spend my time doing that, instead of getting into trouble. And while sometimes I may get stopped for doing something stupid in my car, I understand and respect that the officer is only doing his job(that doesn't mean I'm happy about it), but he's doing his job, and I'm not gonna be disrespecting him and calling him a pig for that! However I do understand that some officers harrass us because of what we do, and what we drive, but you can't hate all cops for something that their colleague has done to you.
Sorry that was sorta long and off topic, but all the people on here bashing the cops kinda get to me.
Anyways I didn't say that to piss anyone off just venting my opinion!
Peace!

It's funny how a simple question always changes into an argument! I agree with everyone on this thread even VietRacer. I mean cops help enforce the law and keep order and everything and people should respect them for putting there life on the line to protect the lives of others. But I also understand what VietRacer is coming from. I mean sometimes cops can just be dicks and most of time they really don't know jack. Of course except for a few CHP who can tell if you have a B16A or a B18C or whatever swap in your car and can tell if you have a cat or intake just be listening most cops really don't know jack about mods. They only know the stereotypical things like your car is too loud or you have hyper white lights or whatever. And often there is a fine line between whats legal and not legal and most of the time i try to stay barely legal but whenever i get pulled over i still get cited (even though technically i shouldn't be) so love then or hate them they'll always be around so just live with it.

So I have a question about NOS again.
NOS sells fifty state legal kits for al the popular domestics, would the hookups for these be in the "send to ref category"?
Also, Laguna Seca is opening an eigth mile track soon, and I am a member of the club that will be doing the work there (tech inspection, staging, parking, etc.). I am getting my green hazmat stickers so I should be within the limits of the law as far as simply transporting it, as long as the bottle is diconnected and the valve is closed.
The only problem is Laguna Seca is a good hour from my home. Granted, a cop would have to dig deep to find a reason to pull me over. If my bottle was disconnected and I have the proper hazmat stickers, is that still legal?
BTW- the green haz-mat sticker that you have to fly with NOS in your car means non flamable. N20 is oxygen, granted a fire needs it to burn, but it also needs fuel. If there is no additional fuel present, the added oxygen will not burn any faster

OK once and for all NOS is absolutly not flamable. The only thing you would need to worry about is the tank exploding and a chunk of metal hitting you( unless the tank blows your gas tank out and then a chunk of flying metal sparks the gas then you have a fireball). Basically when NOS is injected into your combustion chamber It is then heated to some hella hot temperature and then it changes into super compressed air. NO fireballs in your car..

Good info. As I said in the other thread about N20, I'll give you guys the straight legal info as soon as I have it. Life's real busy right now, so it'll take a little while.
