okay well one of my "teammates" has just gotten a turbo kit for his ZX2. it comes with a T3 turbo, a delta wastegate, and HKS BOV. anyways, how does the T3 compare to my small ass T-25? also, i think i have a faint idea, but not really sure, but what's the difference between an internal and an external wasegate and what exactly do they do? thanks in advance

The external allows the exhaust to be removed prior to the turbo, to control the spin up, as the turbo pressure rises the boost is released through the wastegate. On your stock T-25 it does the same thing, except the exhaust make it into the turbo before it is bypassed. The external can be plumbed one of two ways 1) (quiet) the exhaust port of the external wastegate is piped directly into the downpipe allowing the spent gasses to quietly exit the outside of the car through the muffler 2)(loud) the pipe is set to exhaust to the atmosphere about 6-8 inches from the wastegate. Nothing in my opinion sounds better than a Skyline kicking open the wastegate on a Single turbo conversion :)

The T-3 if standard just flows more Cubic feet a Minute (CFM) than the T-25, if it is coupled with the T-4 exhaust housing (T3/T4 Hybrid) then the spool up time is also increased to the better.

Yea the GTRs wastegate sound is nice..but that only apply to v spec. the stock twin doesnt sound bad too imo.

my external is after the turbo, hahn builds there o2 eliminator downpipe that way, i always thought externals where better becauase they where sprung wastegates instead of diaphram like most internals which meant the external was more accurate and cosistant at controlling boost. and because they aren't limited to being placed in the turbo you can make them large to expel the exhaust gas faster. as fare as placement it doesn't matter if its before or after the turbo either way it will do the job

All depends what wheel and trim.. the t3 or t3/t4 is quite common and can vary on how much cfm it flows.. your t25 isnt very big at all.. due to customers complaining about turbo lag in the 1g stock cars, Mitsubishi raised compression in 2gs and put a smaller turbo on it.. I think the record for a stock trubo is 13.8 or something.. I know the T-25 runs hot and usually will run out of breath by 5k rpm. At which point you are just overspinning the turbo.

Nice car man, how much power are you putting down with the 20g? and wut did you do to fight wheelspin?

right now the car is close to 380hp 325tq but it still isn't tuned out right i'm just tired of spendin 100bux a day at the dyno tryin to tune it in for a couple more hp, buildin a new motor and gonna go with a hybrid turbo from the dsm shop. the car has really large wheels but it'll still get wheel hop if launched wrong i have everything short of a solid front end suspension, ground controls, tocikos, poly bushings, i'm gonna try strapping the motor and if that doesn't work i'll probable go with solid motor mounts.

The Mutt series right? which level are you thinking about? A lot of guys out here are thinking the same thing as you are.. I was actually thinking t3/t4, except it takes a custom manifold. :)
