I got a ticket for spinnin my tires, and included in the ticket was illegal lighting, modified exhaust, no front plate, ect. ect. Anyways. The total for the ticket is like $600. Now my question is. there is no way I'm gonna be able to come up with that amount of money in such a short time. Is there anything I can do to pay it off in increments or something? $600 is kinda steep. I guess the cop didn't like me very much. Any info would help.
thanks

You can talk to the judge about the size of the fine and the payment options. Don't expect too terribly much sympathy from him/her though.

There is the option of paying in increments. The judge assumed that I couldn't pay off my $800 speed contest fine, so she offered me a $50 a month payment plan. That was still too steep for me, so then she asked if $25 a month was okay and I said that was great.

If you need extra time, here's what you do:

Wait for them to mail you the ticket info in the mail. It
usually takes about 2-3 weeks? or even longer sometimes.
On that letter, it'll have a deadline date for you to
either make a payment or schedule to appear in court.
Wait till a few days before the deadline and then go make
an appointment for court. Try to schedule the court date
as late as possible. If by then, you still don't have
enough money saved up, I think your allowed 1 or 2 court
appointment reschedules. So you can reschedule to an even
later date.

Then, when you finally appear in court, you can ask the
judge to give you a payment plan if you still can't pay
it off.

Believe it or not, a cop at the courthouse told me how to
work the system ;) There are some kewl cops out there.

I've got another year at Foothill :( 3 years total, feels
like jail time, can't wait to get into a real college.
