I am about to get a universal exhaust for my 2000 VW Jetta 2.0 and I can choose between an apexi or a greddy, which one is better and louder?

i agree with sin-6 why get a greddy or apex for your jetta? don't get me wrong those are both good brands, i myself have a apex on my civic but those are "japanese import brands" if you know what i mean, if you got a european car you got to go with the brands that are made for those cars. But if you really want one of the two i think greddy is better. If want louder get a model that is free flow like a canister exhaust those give you more horsepower and is louder.

if you're choosing between A'PEXi or GReddy, and you want loud, go with a universal A'PEXi N1 muffler. I have a N1 cat-back and that thing is fucking loud! it registers over 100dB without the stick-in silencer. with it, i think it comes down to 93dB or something (the legal sound-limit in CA for an exhaust is 97dB so without the silencer, it's not sound legal, :) ). plus, it's completely straight-through so you get maximum flow and it's SUS304 stainless-steel.

but, like everyone said, there's some great companies that make cat-backs for VWs. Remus is pretty good for european cars. i've heard one on a BMW and it sounded okay.
