Okay im selling my mr2turbo to get an 86. I had a 240sx that i converted to silvia which was cool but if u saw the new scc, played out. Now im picking up an ae86 from sum guy for around $2000 or less. its a gts hatch. Im going to have 5 grand to spend on mods. What should i do first? and which motor should i go for? 20v or 4agze? And good place to get parts. I need to get back into the drift style.

WTF!?!?!?!?!
DAMN YOU and DAMN PEOPLE LIKE YOU, PLAYED OUT!?!?! WTF?!?!?!
What, just because you see something in SCC it suddenly becomes "played out?" Dood, a Silvia will never be played out, maybe to the stupid trend followers and fags who jump on the band wagon.
Get some freakin originality people, think for yourself!
and shut the hell up!

ps. dont buy a hachi

dj..DOnt be such an ass.. i know who u are and your website. You seem to be a cool guy. I wasnt trying to offend anyone. Scc made it seem like a silvia is so easy to make. Silvia for $3000? hell no. I still luv silvia's and everything about them. In the future i want to build an s14. But im saying it played out due to tha fact that Everykid wants to get one which is bs and before when i rolled my 240 nobody new what it was. Now everyone says oh thats a silvia. The silvia should be for real Drivers like u and others. Its not a freakin civic. Parts are hard to get. Its just ive seen to many of them lately. But dot get me wrong i still like them.

Black komet- My first car was a s13 coupe that i built for drift. Converted the front end to a silvia. Not motor. Its was a fun car to drive. I gave it to my bro. I have a sw20. Its fun and fast. But cannot drift worth shit. Its hard to drift a mid engine. Plus its to flashy when i roll around. And whats with your initial d remark?

qstar- i feel like i am upgrading. Its to a car that ive always liked.

I want A car that i can beat on for cheap. Get better gas then my mr2. And is fun to drive. Im done with drag racing for now. Plus im not into looks all that much. No 18's here or Fancy paint jobs. Just clean cars for a fun time.
Im just looking for advice from you people of sro. Not comments on what u think i should do.

K, by the sounds of the post when i first read it, it sounded like someone that was doing something because of what the trends or magazines say is "cool" or not cool.
I totally see where your coming from if wanting a hachi over an MR2.
I myself started in the import scene with an 86 MR2, moved onto a 91' for my next, i loved it, but now im into drift and an MR2 is just not a drift car. A hachi is a good cheap lightweight car you can beat on and it still runs. Its easily fixed if banged up and it is the "purist" car. No a/c, no power steering, but fun as hell.
A japanese friend told me when I was first getting into drifting that if I could learn to drift a hachi well, I could drift anything easily. He said that is common knowledge in Japan. I know now that he is right, but hachi's are frustrating. They break, they are uncomfortable, to do it right you need, LSD, and good suspension, to make it worth while and fun and competitive you need power. Its a constant maintenance machine, know what your getting into before going into it.
good luck

personally, i'd stay with a SW20.

but..since i couldn't afford one, i chose the 86 (relatively cheaper than a AW11 which is severly overpriced in my area)

if you can afford a SW20..i'm sure you have money left to get a 86

so my suggestion is

get both :D

best of both worlds

sorry qstar...i know how much my sw20 is worth compared to an ae86. Better if there was money involved. The sw20 is a great car. But it dosnt not drift. It will handle but it will not pitch sideways very well. It gets to much traction. My ultimate car would be an s15. So im probably going to go through cars and selling off the mr2 isnt that big for me. Its been fun owning it. Its one fast street machine. Plus the bov scares off most muscle cars.

well, well i look at the thread list on this board, it seems like every one is wanting/getting an ae86.. so maybe ae86's are played out too..

even so, who cares!

but i would pick the silvia over an ae86 if i were only to have one car.. the ae86 is much less 'liveable'

Dropping 5 grand on a hatchi is not a good idea. While it's well designed car, and a very compact, agile package, it will never reach the performance level of a nissan, mr2, or any other low cost project car. If you're doing this to save some money(that's the only reason I can think of) and you want a good "Dorifto" car, get an FC3S. They're too be had in the same price range (around 2 grand) and if you pour five thousand dollars in it, you will have a MEAN cornering machine. Go to www.rx7club.com/forum and do some searches, there's not better performance bargain out there. Just my $0.02

having said that though, an MR2 can drift, just like -in theory at least- any RWD, even if its pretty touchy. but IMHO my MR2 gives more like decent performance than a hachi, at least in its semi-stock form. so for all-round driving the AW11 is great fun, it has different directions you can take with modification.

maybe its not a good idea for you. But in other countries like this one, the hachi's even slightly tuned sell for more then $5000. I owned a hachi and now own a nissan and I have seen and still see hachis that out perform full tune 400hp silvias and 180's. It all depends on tuning knowledge and skill. I don't know of any hachis in the states tuned like they do in japan but im sure there are some, im talking ae92 block, trd high comp pistons, hks 272 cams, mikuni solex carbs, headwork, coil over suspension, diff, etc. It will run circles around cars with twice the power, here's one that ran circles around an S14.

Mike, you aren't a DJ anymore. :p

btw, KA24 cams can be upgraded for 272 too. PDM was selling those as their street version cams.
