How would i spot an LSD on an ae86?

Is ther an easy way to do this without asking the owner? I was just wondering, because im looking to but an ae86 from one of those auctions, but there's nobody i can ask weather or not it has an LSD. Is there any easy visual differences between an open diff?

look at the chassis plate under the hood. there's a number 283 thats lsd and 282 thats open diff. but ask rich about this. he'll answer your question more clearly.

yes, but only in the 283 cars. You can tell by the underhood plate if it still has the stock rear end. 282 is a open diff, 283 is LSD.
Click the link, and you will see the plate that tells you if it's a LSD car or not.

thanks guys...

is it me, or does it seem like the answers i get in the drifting forums are much more consice, accurate, and serious, as opposed to the drag racing boards?

oh yeah, i just remembered...
one of you said that the LSD was standard on 283 models. Can 282 models still have LSD as an option? If so, is there any way of spotting it, either by peeking under the car, or any other way?

the code means it is a LSD or not, the "3" is a 3-pinion LSD unit, the "2" is a 3-pinion open unit.
