well my uncle just got this car and i am about to buy it from him. it is in very good condition. my dad will check it out mechanically this weekend. I need info on this car. i wanted a GTS one but man i don't think i'll find one. How does this compare to the GTS? is this car the 85, or 86. any info is good.

yeah i know its pretty weak but what can i do. anyways, about the swap, i am thinking about it but it wont come until later because i know its going to cost money. people say just go find a GTS, but its kinda hard to find one but if i do, i will buy it. for now my little sr5 will be my project..and daily driver. i am working on my 4th gen civic hb right now so yeah.

any other info of this car is good.

if you do find a gts corolla, prepare to pay their asking price bro.then your repairs will cost more than you paid for the car.

like i said before bro. a sr5 and a gts, its like comparing shit to chocolate. sr5 does not have lsd like the gts. lets jus say your sr5 engine shouldve been used to power up a lawn mower hahaha.

how much are you buying this car for?

okay as I say WAY too often it seams, if you don't know what it is you are talking about, shut the fuck up!

In the US we lucked out with the AE86's. The SR5 is NOT the AE85 like that found in Japan and aust. The differences in the AE85 and AE86 were more extencive then just the motor used. I won't get into what they are because they do not pertain to those of us found in the US. Because of the US DOT standards for crash protection, our lowest model of the RWD 83-87 Corolla was the AE86 chassis. The only differences between the AE86 (sr5) and the AE88 (GTS) in the US is....
4a-c vs. 4a-ge
rear drums vs. rear disks
open diff vs. optional LSD
drivers side clutch slave cyl vs. passenger side
interior
total options.

Other then that, there are NO differences between the two cars. This means you can swap the parts from the GTS to the SR5, and easily have a conversion car. There are instructions listed on www.club4ag.com for this swap. If I were you, a cheap NICE SR5, just take it, and start modding the fuck out of the suspension breaks, and chassis, then swap in a good motor, and the rear end.

Once again, please don't quote Initial D unless you know what you are talking about. The LSD was NOT standard on the GTS, it's actually quite rare. Even more now that most have found their way onto KP61's and the older 'rollas.

well i might get it for free, or i will buy it for a g. it is in good condition and everything. only problem is the brakes and fuel guage. ive been trying to find one for a long time but all i see are jacked up ones with dents and everything. so yeah i will be getting it soon. i wont start modding until i fix my other car a little. thanks for the info

i finally got the car for free. it is sitting in my drive way just waiting to get upgraded. Can someone give me the specs to the SR5?

first thing i am going to do is take out the carpet and replace some parts, like right taillight, and the dash and the door panels.

w00t w00t scratch that last post...

i was curious why i had a twin cam engine. so i checked that corolla website and i found out that i had a GTS corolla. i also checked the back and found out i had rear disk brakes. This is getting better everytime. the reason i didn't know at first is because the emblems were shaved and they repainted so it didn't have the TWIN CAM decal.

how do you find out if you have LSD again?

the underhood plate find a number it should say 283-LSD 282-open diff or jack up the rear and spin the rear wheels if both spin you got it!

LSD makes both wheels spin making it easier for you to control during a drift or high speed turn sort of like grip style.

hehe this was wierd for me too. i was like ive been looking for one for a year and out of nowhere my uncle goes hey hey i got a new car. it needs a lot of engine work tho, like a makeover engine wise. a lot of broken seals and stuff. it will be my project car so its cool. it has around 230,000 miles on it

yeah, the north american spec corolla gt-s was originally rated at 115hp.. but since your car is all old and stuff, expect quite a bit less
