I saw a video that was entitled "Traying". It looked like a guy in an FF with cafeteria trays under his back wheels. Does this work with normal trays or do you have to get something special? Does spraying a little WD-40 on the bottom of the trays make this work even in dry weather. Please don't laugh at me, I'm new to this and I'm just asking an innocent question :)

Yes, it works with normal trays (although I'll sell you some "PNG Hyper Race-Type Special Form Best Lucky JDM" trays for $100 a set if you'd like)

Yah, you can do it in dry weather even without any lube - that's sort of the point of putting the rear wheels on trays instead of just locking up the e-brake and dragging the ass end of the car around until your tires pop.

sorry, but it was funny.
Its a joke, they were making fun of people who think FWD cars can drift. Its just a parody.

I knew you would laugh, but I'm just looking for something that could be fun to do with some friends, I'm not trying to drift or anything.

i used to(1998-2000) do that on mcdonalds trays in my AE82, it was great fun. aw, sad to see it commercialised, time to go find some new trend...
bread trays are easier to pinch from supermarkets though, just as a hint.

personal favourites though:
-firehosing down parking lots before you do dumb stuff on them
-sit on said tray and get it tied onto the towbar. its like waterskiing but you lose all the skin on your knees, elbows and arse.

If its the video I think it is its Hades Omega from 2GNT and I can tell you its not a parady of FF cars traying to tray, its just what he likes to do. You can get FF cars to drift and drift well, I know he goes to autocrosses and drifts and I believe he goes to road courses every now and than.

Well I tried traying earlier tonight. It was pretty fun, I've never felt the back end slip out like that before and it was pretty cool to try and correct it ;) . What sort of trays can I use so that they don't wear through as fast, or can I just super glue two trays together?

DiaVolo - I couldn't really compare this to either drifting or driving an AWD since I've never done either. It is fun but you go through the trays too quickly.

Mr 20Valve - Your right about that. :)

p.s. I'd buy a RWD if I had the money for a new car.

the corolla handled just about exactly like it was being handbraked on a frosty road. you could always double the trays and hot glue together a few sets before you go out, or find more durable trays.

to be honest it didnt feel anything like putting my MR2 out sideways does, but when you're young- and dont have the brains to get a cheap RWD to do it in- what harm does it do? and we only did it on friday nights ;)
when you start taking that shit seriously though...
