To answer your guys is question yes there is pro drift compitions held all the time. I think its cal lteh D1 Drift grand Prix. Got mad peeps with sponsored cars by places like: VErtex, k-style, yashio factory, advan, uras, hks, Trust, apexi things like that. They got the dopest drift's and really hard angles. For pros only of course. they get into mad crashes. Its 4 rounds and not always the same winner. I know this one doode from A crew called Rapid fire is coo and Kaguichi(* think thats his name, he has a black 180sx that hes had forever)hes pretty dope too.

The D1 grand prix is for amature drivers.
all thought they are really good at drifting they don't get paid to drift.
It is a competitons and not a series.
As far as i know no one really gets paid to drift except rally drivers.
If you ever noticed on Option vids they go to the guys work some times and he BS's about his car etc etc etc.

well there isn't really "paid" drifting so to speak where the driver gets paid for racing but..
SPONSORS pay the driver/owner or give free products to him/her so he can sport their sticker and win.
There are many competitions and series, BM, AP, and D1 are just a couple. The cars you see at all of these competitions are mostly daily drivers, some im sure are seldom driven on the street but they are seen at local drift spots. Actually D1 is a series and at the end, the "final round", all the top professional racers compete for the fame and cash prize. Koguchi did wreck this year in the final round and his 180 is no longer black, it was painted green last year.

paper scissors rock is the closest thing you'll see to a drift competition here j/k but speedtrials does hold them I've just never seen an actual one just paper scissor rock.
I'm sure everywhere in the world they have drift competitions but here because americans like to race around an oval a billion times instead of getting sideways. Rally isn't even that popular here so so much for dirt drifting.
I've seen drift competition in option videos (japanese) and I dled this euro drift competition movie one time. It was pretty cool seeing those monstrous benzs and beemers drift.
