I know this is probably in the wrong section.
I need help with my AE86.
First of i am looking for the rear seat backs for a hatch back light grey/ light blue color.
This car also dont run well.
It idles just fine but when u step on the gas it sputters and doesnt go past 2800 rpm.
Also the mechanic told me the fuel injection is messed up but he is not 100% sure whats wrong.
He told me at least $300 to fix.
Have any of you guys out there had the same probelm.
I could fix it myself if i knew what was wrong.
i guess i'll just ahve to rip that bitch apart.

Is this on the geo motor? Also, what mods are done to the car... head, cams, intake mani, computer, wiring, etc...
Does the car only do this when you "step" on the gas, or is it any time you open the throttle plate? i.e. when you mash the gas, does it do it, but not when you ease onto it. Also, the spuddering, does it shake the car, and feel like you have missing pistons? I had that same feeling when I shorted out #2, and #4 pistons. Took the water off the valve cover vally, and it worked. Fucking Max, give me MORE info!!!
the trunk back seats work in the hatch (this has been confirmed) There is a guy up here that has a set of the blue/lt. blue he will sell. They are perfect!!!

thats rich good looking out on the hatch seats.
how much does he want?
ok, about the car.
i bought it it didnt run.
still stock motor.
the TPS was fuk'ed, so i had an extra and used the factory manual to set the specs.
also i thought the exhaust was pluged so i put headers and a new cat and new cat back piping, no muffler at this time :)
i also put new plugs, new cap, new spark wires
there is no more error cobe on the obd1 so i am baffled.
the mechanic who is a cool dude said it is running too rich.
i am thiking O2 sensor or fuel line some where.
ok Thanx

ok what happens is the car idles just fine a puff of smoke will come out when u first start it up.
then when you go to put the gas on it looses power unless you go full throttle. then it peaks at 2800 rpm making no power.
no knocks or misfires.
and the exhuast manifold gets very very f'ing hot.
Max
does the cat get that hot too????
When I was having the shorting problem, I had the same unable to rev problem. 2 pistons were not fireing, and raw fuel was being dropped into the cat/exhasut mani. This was igniting the raw fuel, and actually started my undercoating on fire. What color is the smoke, and is there a lot of carbon building up in the exhaust pipe.

well i just put a whole new exhaust.
the smoke looks like black like extra fuel
but not blue like oil or water.
the motor is not over heating nor is the raditor.
I have not checked the cat to check to see if it hot but i imagine that it is.
when the stock headers was on there they would glow cause they got so hot.

first of all check the spark plug valley for water, or something that will short out the plugs. Second, you said you put in a new o2, test the output of that thing after the car has idled up to temp. Test it at the sensor it's self, AND the point on the ECM. Next check the AFM, it might be giving a false reading, as well as the TPS. Also, check the injectors, make sure they are the right ones. They should be a Blue with the square plug. After, that, check your ignition timing, it could be off. If you need any spare parts, there are a TON of blue tops in the yards up here. I might even sell you parts off the silver car :)
When the o2 goes bad it sends a signal to the computer of "lean" so the computer automatically dumps fuel to compinsate. It still doesn't recieve a signal from the o2, so it shoves in fuel untill the pulse width, and injector can't take anymore. Happened to the neon a couple times when the o2 went bad.

OK i will put a new O2 sensor tommorow.
I adjusted the TPS to factory specs.
No error codes on the OBD1???
thats why the confusion.
after i get done swapping diffs then i will rip that car apart :)
if that dont work ill just drop the high comp in there :)

After the high comp goes it, you will still have the same problem. It's not the block that's doing it, it's the fuel system. Check the injectors, and hell, check to see if your computer is the right one.
OOOO also check the part numbers on your AFM, it might have been swapped by some idiot for one off the 3s, or 7m motor, they all use the same housing. These will dump too much fuel in, to compinsate for more displacement.

take out the fuel injection and put on some Mikuni Solex carbs!
hehe. it would solve your problem. Then some cams, trd pistons, msd ignition... mmm....
Don't you mean just Mikuni? Mikuni also stopped importing carbs to the US for cars, and I think...I say think...that they've stopped making carbs for cars. They still make them for motorcycles. Also Solex is a manifold and is not associated with Mikuni.

well actually there is a combo Mikuni/Solex made for the 4AG
no its not made anymore, but its alot easier to tune then the FCR's and still widely available in Japan. Its a really nice set up, 35mm venturis the way it comes normally but most you find now have larger 44mm venturis, it says Mikuni-Solex on top of it BTW.

Qstar i live near white and mckee.
DJ i was asking about carbs b4 on club 4ag and since all i know is bolt up holly carbs for chevy 305's and 357's someone on 4ag i wont mention names told me that i was too stupid to be able to put them on correctly lol.
Also there are a gang of side drafts on e-bay.
but since i dont know what manifold fits what carb it might get a mix match set and that wouldnt work :(
Max
Let me just say, Dual side drafts are NOT EASY TO TUNE!!!
I won't get into what it takes, but it's not an easy thing. People that say this have NO clue what it takes to properly dial in a set of carbs, not to mention sync them.
Mikuni is a carb manafacture
Solex is a carb manafacture
Two different companies, it's like saying holly/weber.
