I just saw initial D and I liked what I saw. For a rookie/ wannabe drifter...where do people go to practice drift. I live in the bay area and I dont want to kill myself or others or get caught. I'm hearing alot of people saying they've drifted before so I wanted some input. I was thinking Laguna Seca...What does everybody else think...and also ryan where are the drifting events taking place???

if your close to oakland, up in the hills by where i work literally walk 2 minutes, theres a road named "Pinehurst" i dont know about drifting but thats where i learned how to drive fast, theres something like a 90 degree turn followed by two 45 degree turn and no guardrails and a steep fall on the edge.

up in the moutians ones you have the right skillz...otherwise your just gonna go kill yourself as you fly of the road down a cliff face. practice in a big open parking lots..its best to do it in the rain. that way your tires wont; give you away to the cops.
the only time people drift laguna seca is on gran tourismo 2/3

there are lots of places in bay area to drift. just have to find'em. look for roads that have 20mph turns. mostly youll find'em in business areas.

autoxing is a good place to practice drifting. Its where I do it haha I get in trouble sometimes and it kills me time. But you get to practice drifting on a made up course and if you get fun runs it's more drift practice. Only other place I could recommend drifting is in a large parking lot or at a drift even like speedtrials. That's where I do it. I tried that drifting on the streets and drifting on mountain roads and it's not worth it if you crash.

Yep, and that's about the quickest way to get your ass black flagged, and asked not to return. Go on, do that shit in front of the Hales and see how long you last at their event. moron

nah I think your the idiot Rich I don't think you know anything about autox or drifting. There is no such thing as a black flag in autox we have red ones and checkered ones but no black ones. So go do your homework you moron.
ANother thing is that almost every autox I've gone to that has fun runs I have drifted. They can't kick me out either I payed. There is a brown capri that always drifts, I've seen integras, skylines, and muscle cars drift. So don't tell me what I can and can't do.
Who are the moderators for this forum anyway they sure seem FR biased editing my shit like that and posted FFs not wanted. You guys are a buncha haterz. ;[

Really, and what formal training do you have? I am not the putz thinking I am cool driving a pathetic FF car with fast food trays under the rear tires. You think you are a drifter, to the point that you call yourself one. All you are is just another ricer thinking he knows what he is talking about. Please shut up, or I will be happy to do it for you.
There is no such thing as a black flag in autox we have red ones and checkered ones but no black ones. So go do your homework you moron.
Black flags are universal for all forms of scantioned racing. SCCA, BTCC, D2, FIA, NASA, PCA, and the former IMSA, amongst other bodies reconise the Black flag as instant removal from the racing course, for safty, mechanical, or other reasons. Here is an exurpt from the SCCA home page on basic rules...
The following flags and their meanings shall be explained and used at all events:
GREEN - when displayed, the green flag indicates that the course is clear.
YELLOW -
MOTIONLESS - take care, danger, slow down, NO PASSING
WAVED - great danger, slow down, be prepared to stop, NO PASSING.
RED - The session has been stopped. Clear the course for emergency traffic by stopping off course to the right as far as practical. Do not move until directed by a worker or official.
BLACK - There is a problem with your driving or your vehicle. Proceed to your pit at a reduced rate of speed for consultation.
BLUE WITH DIAGONAL YELLOW STRIPE - another driver is following you. Be prepared to signal at the next designated passing zone.
CHECKERED - The session has ended. Please return to the pits at the end of this lap.
Granted your course workers most likly hold a radio, and a red flag, but I was using the term black flag loosly. I guess my years of racing doesn't mean shit to you, you missed the connitation I used it in...MY bad!
ANother thing is that almost every autox I've gone to that has fun runs I have drifted.
No, you ass dragged
They can't kick me out either I payed.
Tell that to the fool at last years Duel at DeAnza in the Ferrari. They can kick you off for any "black flag" situation. Ever read the waver you signed when you go to an event. I know you are not a member of SCCA, actually, you might be. SCCA seems to be filled with morons that have their heads up their asses. i.e. you.
There is a brown capri that always drifts,
You must be referign to Ben Martinez, who has been an active member of the SFRSCCA for more years then I can remember. Not only is he a exeranced driver, but he also has chaired a gamit of events, and helped the Howell's plan events. When you have the seat time that Ben has, you too can drive like him. I've seen integras, skylines, and muscle cars drift. So don't tell me what I can and can't do.
I've seen a horse fly, I've seen a house fly, but I'll be, if I ever did see, when I see an elephant fly....
Who are the moderators for this forum anyway they sure seem FR biased editing my shit like that and posted FFs not wanted. You guys are a buncha haterz. ;[ so go away, and don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out. As for the moderators, I will let you find out who they are on your own. Keep up the moronic banter, and I am SURE you will find out very quickly. Fucking newbie!

blablabla all you can do is talk shit. I've never seen a black flag once at a SOLO2 autox.
I got blacked flagged at speedrial buttonwillow race park but now that's not a SCCA SOLO2 AUTOX event now is it?
I don't care if you don't believe me and you think I'm some kind of ricer. My car has been modded with nothign but suspension and performance parts. SO if that's your definition of a ricer then think what you wanna think.
I didn't come in picking any fights but I'm not gonna let assholes like you stop me from carrying one on. All I wanna do is contribute some information but you won't even let me do that.
When did I mention trayin was drifting anyway? I've probably got my car sideways a lot longer than your garbage car! Who sez drifting is for FR or RWDs only anways?! Anyone can drift, FF rally cars drift! I guess that's the trend now 86 and 240s are the only ones privledged to drift. I better stop drifting my FF before the FR drift squad cracks down on me!
If the moderators are as you say they are then they are all full of shit too then.

well.... first off, saying FR and RWD is kind of redundant, I mean both are rear-wheel driven, although engines mounted in a different position.
Second, rally drifting and drifting on the street are 2 different concepts, so the techniques that apply to FF Rally drifting are totally different than on the street.
Lastly, I saw your trayin video. At first I thought you were just trying to make a joke (and I laughed for the first 30 seconds). After noticing it was just you doing the same thing for a couple of minutes mixed to some godawful Initial D music, I think you might have been serious. How sad for you. You accuse those who drive RWD cars of being a part of some trend. Apparently you are stuck on the Initial D trend with your lame ass traying video. RWD cars have been around forever and its not like the world just realized RWD cars were good for something.

well anything with power going to rear is RWD, 4WD, MR, RR, and FR it's all got power going to the rear.
Don't talk about Initial D to me I'm Initial D hardcore, I watched that anime about the same time I got my car. That was when it just came out and no1 knew about Initial D. I had to watch it in raw japanese (I don't understand japanese either) so don't use the Initial D card on me I've watched it for years ever since it came out around 95. I had the cantonese VCDs first, HKdvds, and now I have the subbed HKvcds. ANd I'm waiting for battle stage to come out. I even have the manga scans so don't use Initial D.
I also watched Best motoring, Hotversion, and option so I know watsup. On one of the option vids I got they even had and showed how to do FF drifting. Ever see Keichi Tsuchiya drift an EF2 I have!

Then your local region needs to read the updated minuts from the board meetings.
I got blacked flagged at speedrial buttonwillow race park but now that's not a SCCA SOLO2 AUTOX event now is it?
And you are proud of this fact? To be ejected from a road course is not cool, nor something I would brag about. I would hang my head low if I was black flagged, be it for my driving, or my car's safty. Some things in life you should just keep to yourself, that is one.
I don't care if you don't believe me and you think I'm some kind of ricer. My car has been modded with nothign but suspension and performance parts. SO if that's your definition of a ricer then think what you wanna think.
I define ricer as someone that tries too hard to be something that he/she is not. Calling yourself a drifter, is doing exactly that. You drive a FF, which by nature is unable to drift. Esically that of a rather heavy, underpowered FF. I have seen some ass draggers drift, but none that I would take on the streets. Pulling your ebrake, or left foot braking is NOT drifting.
I didn't come in picking any fights but I'm not gonna let assholes like you stop me from carrying one on. All I wanna do is contribute some information but you won't even let me do that.
What information have you contributed? All I can see is a video of you making a fool out of yourself. Oh, and the random Initial D quote, and technical referance.
When did I mention trayin was drifting anyway? I've probably got my car sideways a lot longer than your garbage car!
Do you REALLY want to get in a pissing match with me?
Who sez drifting is for FR or RWDs only anways?! Anyone can drift, FF rally cars drift!
As said before, drifting on the dirt, and on the pavement is two TOTALLY different things. you are not speaking of rally racing, you are talking about dragging the ass of your light battle tank around a parking lot, avoiding cones.
I guess that's the trend now 86 and 240s are the only ones privledged to drift. I better stop drifting my FF before the FR drift squad cracks down on me!
I have been racing, and driving hard, you could say "drifting" longer then I am sure you have had your drivers license. Does this make me special, in a way yes. I have the seat time, training, and creds to back up my words. What do you have? You mention a "trend" that you imply that I am fallowing. Ironically enough most of your posts to this BBS have something to do with Initial D. It's a great anime, and I do own the full DVD set. Only because my GF bought it for my x-mas gift. Long after I bought my AE86. I bought the AE86 because it was a cheap car to get me around. Just so happens that I can't drive a stock car.
If the moderators are as you say they are then they are all full of shit too then. Psshhhh my cousin was right nothing good can come of this forum. Not only the forum but because of people like you. TJ, no more cool points for you...untill '05!! The reason some of us are here, is to share our knowlage. Then again I enjoy the good laugh I get from fools such as yourself. People like me are what keep motorsports alive, people like you are what cause us to have a bad name. Sure it's REAL cool to drive on trays, but ever stop to think what image that presents to the public, about racers? Damage to private proerty, wreckless driving, and a gamit of other offences. I am not saying I am holyer then thou, but shit, could you be any more "cool"? No, this thread will not be closed, becasue you are giving me something to do while I wait for UPS to bring my secondary venturis :D

yeah your seat time doesn't matter jack shit to me. I'll stay cuz this is giving me something to do during my spring break. I don't go around picking fights with people like you do. If I wanna ass drag then let me ass drag. Might as well have an ass dragging forum on SRO so I can create a haven for FF drifters to share their knowledge and not get desriminated upon. So what u r saying is that because I"m FF I can't drag my ass or FF drift is that the law of the drifters? I'd sooner get an AE92 and ass drag that than get an 86 and do some real drifting then. I'm not gonna stop ass dragging/FF drifting because you say so, I drift because I think it's fun. So I'm gonna do what I wanna do, you go ahead and descriminate on everyone else if that's your thing. That makes your personality rotten.
Superstreet must be wrong when they say you can drift you honduh then huh?
well I'm sorry mr20valve but if someone goes from thread to thread and descriminates on you what ru gonna do? Probably nothing but I'm gonna do something. I don't care if I'm putting out my point or giving your guyz a good laugh, I don't like being desriminated upon.

haha, you can hear it first hand from Slide Squad that Super Street totally fucked up thier article and misinterpreted them. I asked them on another (anonymous) BBS that they used to visit now and then because I saw someone had "thanked" Super Street and Slide Squad for allowing him to use thier pictures for some cheesy drifting article he did. So I asked em what thier article was about. Rather than get an answer to that, they said they would rather forget the whole thing because Super Street totally fucked em over

I drift shopping carts at the supermarket all the time. When you pull them from the front you can't drift em, but then again they don't have ebrakes and you can't steer the front wheels either can they?
So what gives rich the right to walk all over me? Was it like "Oh look it's some FF wannabe chump lets go call him stupid and try to discourage him from drifting." Well I'm not gonna stop drifting and if people want info I'll give it to them, I've studied racing and drift for quite sometime now and I'm entitled to my own opinion. How I do things is my way do people make fun of the way you look or car you drive? Everyone is just a hater...

I have been activily racing sence age 16. I am licensed in Solo I, SS, IT, T, GT, as well as Rally/Pro rally. Not only have I taken more racing, and driving schools then you can shake a stick at, but I also teach high speed driving. I only think of the word "poser" when I hear that teams name.

hey i'm just saying some of that stuff in Initial D really works. I'm not going to go use no gutter turn (I have used it on offramp gutters, and believe it or not it's a rally technique I see WRC rally cars use it all the time just this is a concrete manmade gutter :( ) or hairpin jump. It's not like I learned how to drive from Initial D, I learned through trial and error and research. SOmetimes the errors were costly though if you know what I mean. I'm not basing everything I say on Initial D it's from experience.
