The pro import scene has been getting bigger and bigger every yera, but I think this year is a milestaone for the import racing scene. For the firts time there is a HUGE manufacturers battle going on in the pro ranks. Its just like how the NHRA pro stock curcuit started out way back in the day.

This year RJ De Vera teams up with Acura and is piloting a new carbon fiber bodied tube frame RSX.

Steph of course is sticking with Honda and his 2001 civic coupe.

Chris Rado is trading sides over to Toyota to pilot the new tube frame fiberglass bodied celica.

There is one more unlikely contender in the whole FWD battle...Chevy is getting into it all. They have a new Chevy Cavalier that is supose to be a good contender in it all.

I like to see all of these manufcturer battles, does a lot of good for the scene!!! It makes it a little harder for up-and-comers to raise up in the ranks, but thats life...just makes you work harder in the brackets.

IMHO, import racing, even at the pro level, has a long, long way to go. Participation in the "feeder" classes has dropped way off, and the competiton in the really quick classes is very uneven. A one second spread in qualifying ET's makes for some pretty dull racing. Worse yet, the promoters don't seem to want to learn from the example set by the NHRA, and insist on doing things like running the "showcase" finals in the middle of the event, and bracket racing last, thus ensuring that nobody sticks around. That's happened at every "major" import race I've been to, as a matter of fact.

Wait till my boy billyT from vwvortex gets his project car/motor built.

His daily driver is runnin low 12s on the stock motor. With a built motor, a big ass turbo and some nos he should be 10s or lower...

I hope!!!
