You can really learn a lot about car control at a drift event. This past weekend was really fun

Oh crap! He rolled?? Did the roof/supports hold up?
How was the drivers' skill level at T-Hill? Was everyone about the same as at Buttonwillow?

This 600 horsepower 911 was coming up on me fast on the straigh away. I motioned for him to pass me but it was too late, we were already flying into turn one. I said to myself Ok i'm going to go for it. Going faster than i've ever gone I took turn 1 extremely fast. My car was hanging well. As I hit turn 2 I took a perfect apex. We must have been doing 90 miles per hour coming out of turn 2 as my car was doing a 4 wheel slide while accelarating. My passenger and I could feel mad G-forces in our stomach. We screamed into turn 3. I always have a problem with this one but somehow my placement felt right. I went for it and hung that mother. Somehow I took it a little too fast though. As I was coming into turn 4 I could feel my cars rear end start to come out. We're doing 85 miles per hour and in an uncontrollable 4 wheel slide. As my car is sliding horizontally on the track I look over to see where this Highly modded race track only 911 is. He was either smart and keeping his distance or I was blazing the track and he was trying to keep up. In either case He slowed down and waited for me to stop. I gave a sigh of relief that we didn't go off track and flip.
I remembered earlier in the day what my friend had said. He had said if your doing the track and you feel comfortable, your not going fast. Your going fast when feel like your on the edge the whole time. That is exactly how I felt.
Here is the track map:

Shit you guys have guts. I'd love to try running even a couple of powerslides but between being chicken and broke I don't wanna risk the car or even the tires. About the best I can pull of is a ebrake 180. But hey, we all gotta start somewhere eh. Here's to hoping you guys keep surviving that insanity. Later

dang thats one crazy story ryan. Must have been a tight racing on a track like that and doing 90 on turns. That would be cool if SRO wanted to have a big meet we can put up a thing where we raise enough money to rent the track for a day. That would be some tight ass $h!t there.

Drifting sounds like a hell of a lot of fun! :(
Drifting is a hell of a lot of fun...but learing how to drive fast is also a hell of a lot of fun...and should be done first..learn to walk befor you run!!

Tight story, ryan. Maybe some day I'll be able to bring myself to take turns that fast. Right now, hmm.. fwd car w/ stock suspension and bald 205/55/r16's.. Could I get any worse?
