I heard some guys talking about it being on the news, but I never saw it. My mom told me about it too. They said that Harley will be releasing a full blown sport bike in the very near future. The new guy in charge of racing is for real and he is leading harley to regain past glory. Gawd knows they need it as their racing progam became more of an embarrasment for the company rather than something to even mention!

I can't find it on their site and I was told it was not the new Buell. So anyone see it? What does ot look like?

HD has had a bike that they have been running in AMA superbike, not the VTR 1000, but the VR 1000 ridden by Pascal Piscotte ( the VTR 1000 is the honda superhawk, and the VTR 1000 sp1 is the rc 51). Whats odd about it is that it obviously disobeys the factory availability rules, which is basically that all bikes must be available for private purchase with a certain number produced.

Anyways, the bike has had a real poor career and pretty much is not even a competitor at all.

They said this was a whole new one. True, or full of shit?

I have not heard of a new HD sportbike, but that does not mean there is not one coming out. If anything, they might be finally releasing the VR 1000 as a street bike, they way they were supposed to in order to compete in Superbike, but they never did.

That is why there are certain bikes that are available, but rare. Like the yamaha r7. Just made available street legal so the bike could compete in superbike and AMA.

It's the V-Rod. Harley is calling it a sportbike. Really it's just a cruiser that works well in the twisties. Sort of like one of those Polaris thingies but it doesn't suck. 115 bhp @ the crank. DOHC with 4-valve heads. It rocks. But it's still a Hog (I mean that in a good way)

The VR1000 is Harley's Superbike...and it ALWAYS seems to have problems. Their new "power-cruiser" has overhead cams, eight valves, and was partially designed by Porsche. It should be out soon as a 2002 model, with a price in between 15-20k. The engine has a lot on common with the VR,which doesnt sound like a good thing to me. Too lil bike for too much $...

I saw a quick segment on the V-Rod on CNN a couple days ago. The tru Harley fans were kinda pissed it didn't have the Harley rumble.

I saw one today. It looks phat but it sounds like a Boxter, only quieter.
