About this time last year, Cadillac's CTS (http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/17/cnet-hands-out-2007-car-tech-awards/) added CNET's Tech Car of the Year (http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13746_7-10121516-48.html?part=rss&tag=feed&subj=Crave) to its increasingly crowded trophy case. Its entertainment system's recording capability (http://www.autoblog.com/2007/08/22/first-drive-2008-cadillac-cts-interior-and-infotainment/) was one of the things that impressed us, and, presumably, the voters. This year, CNET asks its readers to choose between (http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13746_7-10121516-48.html?part=rss&tag=feed&subj=Crave) three imports and two domestics, none of which are Cadillacs.

BMW's M3 Convertible (http://www.autoblog.com/2008/04/25/pics-aplenty-bmw-m3-convertible/)DCT gets a spot on the ballot with its dual-clutch transmission. We wonder if the car's recent recall (http://www.autoblog.com/2008/11/20/bmw-m3-recalled-over-new-double-clutch-gearbox/) for transmission problems will affect its standing. The Nissan GT-R (http://www.autoblog.com/2008/07/23/in-the-autoblog-garage-2009-nissan-gt-r/) shows up again, as you might expect with its cabin full of g-whiz electronics, from the in-dash performance computer to the quick-loading navigation. Lincoln makes the list for its THX-equipped MKS (http://www.autoblog.com/2008/07/07/in-the-autoblog-garage-2009-lincoln-mks/) and Infiniti's EX35 (http://www.autoblog.com/2008/02/20/in-the-autoblog-garage-2008-infiniti-ex35/) Journey gets recognized for its lane-departure warning system and park-assist cameras.

The biggest surprise, though, is the Dodge Ram 1500 Laramie (http://www.autoblog.com/2008/08/13/2009-dodge-ram-priced-from-22-170/). The pachyderm-sized pickup impressed the CNET judges with its UConnect multimedia system which includes a 30GB hard drive, Bluetooth hands-free system, SIRIUS TV and rear seat DVD player.

The winner will be announced the second week of January to coincide with the Consumer Electronics Show in Vegas.
