my friends ls vtec rex passed ref, but that was before he put the vtec head on.
most likely the referee will see the b18a/b on the block and say, " that never came with vtec"

My friend took his LS-VTEC to smog and he got it passed fine, but he also took it to the ghetto, and the guy who smoged it barely even spoke english. I'm not hatin' on the ghetto, but that's the facts. It should pass, if the technician doesn't look that closely at your engine codes. Good luck man!

When they smog your car, do they just let you idle? Or do they ask you to rev to a certain RPM? Is it in a dyno or do you leave it in neutral?
Well, in Sac, there'll actually be two people working the smog check. One guy drives the car up onto the ramp and sets up the equipment, and the other guy just stands there and watches the monitor to see if the car's passing or failing. The guy who does all the work drives your car up a ramp, pops the hood, sticks a big fan in front of the car, and puts a sniffer in your exhaust. The fan goes on, and the test begins; the "driver" will put your car into neutral, if I remember correctly, and I think he revs it to 4000RPM or something like that. He revs it pretty high. All you can do is stand there and watch and pray your car passes.
