if you get a ticket for speeding or running a red light because a camera took a pic of your car....
TAKE IT TO COURT AND DEMAND TO SEE YOUR *WITNESS*
constitution says everyone has the right to meet their witness... IT WORKS...take it to court
NOBODY saw you do it, there are no witnesses
just thought i should share

Uhh, no. So you are saying if someone breaks into the bank and steals 10 million dollars, all caught on video tape from the security cameras, he will get away? I don't think so.

On the other hand, I heard that spraying your license plate with clear paint to make it shiny will make it so the intersection cameras see nothing but glare. I don't know if it's true.

peace

noits the right to face your accuser. not your witness. basically your accuser is the camera and cannot speak for itself other than a blur of a picture. this is a US law.

I've found a little info on this one to share. Personally...I think if you run a red light, you should get the damn ticket and pay up for it. Running red lights is incredibly dangerous, I've almost been taken out a few times by people doing it. My girlfriend and I had such a close call a couple months ago while I was driving that she told me if she was driving she's sure we would both be in the hospital or the morgue. She's not a bad driver, she's just not obsessed with cars and driving like I am. :)

Anyways...enjoy the info. There's ways to get out of red light camera tickets, or at least to try and fake out the system. But the best way is to stop when the light is red. Duh.

"In order for localities to use the cameras for law enforcement purposes, laws must authorize enforcement agencies to cite red light violators by mail. The legislation also must make the vehicle owner responsible for the ticket, establishing a presumption that the registered owner is the vehicle driver at the time of the offense. Red light cameras are currently permitted in 12 states -- Arizona, California, Colorado, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Virginia, and Washington -- and the District of Columbia. Violations photographed by red light cameras are most commonly treated in two ways -- as traffic violations or as the equivalent of parking tickets, depending on state law. If, as in New York, red light camera violations are treated like parking citations, the law can make registered vehicle owners responsible without regard to who is driving at the time of the offense. Virginia makes red light camera violations a civil offense like New York, but unlike New York, the state allows registered owners to avoid citations by filing affidavits swearing they weren't driving when the violations occurred."

Problem Child,

You can rest easier now...here's some info from the LAPD on red light cameras and photo enforcement...

Will this system also enforce speed violations?
No. The system is not designed to enforce speed violations, nor does it use radar to detect a vehicle’s speed.

Isn’t this a "speed trap"?
No. Speed, though determined electronically, is not used to establish the violation of running the red light. A photograph, clearly depicting the violation and position of the violator’s vehicle at time of the signal change, establishes all the elements necessary for the violation.

i am very sure it is a lwa that you need to have a front and back plate, i don't have a front plate, i don't know why , but wheni bought it it came that way. that would seem to be the simpleist fix, ( iam am not suggesting that you go out and do this, cause one it is illegal i think.) but i think it would work.

I'm 99% sure the camera takes 2 pictures one of the rear lisence plate and one of the driver. So if you swear you weren't driving and they provide your picture you are now guilty of perjury.
