Hi everybody... i posted this under "street races/kill stories" already... but i didn't get any replies from the authorities... so i thought i'd post it up here and see if i get any response...

i think it was 2 weeks ago... i was down at the runs... junction to be exact... where a bust came in... 2 popo cars came on one end and blocked it off... being the dork that i am... also being at the very end of the line... i slowly crept up to the intersection...

noticing there was a stop sign... i thought... "arg.. stop or not... better stop.. make it at least slightly more legal than things are"..

as i stopped... the officer walked over to me... said "slow down dummy"... and proceeded to hit my back door w/ his maglite

i just froze there for a second not believing what just happened...

i thought if i should ask for his badge number... afterall.. that's destruction of private property.. right? but i figured that the overall situation wasn't entirely in my favor... so i just looked away... and slowly drove off... later at a gas station i checked... damages were a scratch and basically a door ding... nothing major... but still... damage done intentionally by an officer of the law

my question is this:

1. should i have asked for his badge #
2. what could i do in terms of defending my private property and the damage that this officer has done

obviously its too late for me to do anything... but i feel that people have the right to know... the right to protection... cuz afterall.. thats what the law is for... right?

sorry to hear about your incident and i can't think of anything you could do, cause if you asked for his badge number the cop might have gave you a bogus ticket for some crap,

If you think you've justifiably been wronged by an officer in San Jose and you want to talk to somebody about it, you can do a number of things. The fastest result you'll get is by dialing 3-1-1 from a payphone and asking to meet with the supervisor in the area. You can explain the issue you have and find out if you're right or wrong and - if you're right - what'll be done about it.

If you're just angry because you got a ticket or you think the ticket you got is bogus, then that is an issue to take to traffic court.

Drive safe,
