the gt i just got today is missing everything except the headers. And basically i need to replace those too.

I'm pretty stuck on the idea of getting flowmasters (probably 2 chambers), and of course i need cats. But my question is: what all do i need?

i'm not an expert on exaust, but to help you out in answering my question, i want:

new headers
cats
flows (2chamber)
and turn-downs

so what all should i get? and i know i'm missing something like the h-pipe, so please help me out. money is not really that big of an issue...

Well I can give you two ways to do your exaust..One is get a set of shorty headers bbk or headman etc.. Then get yourself either a off road x-pipe or a highflow cat x-pipe, with 2 chambers with turndowns. If you go with the off road x just get a shop to weld you on dummy cats for cops.. Dont take it to a muffler shop and have them tell you they can make an h-pipe get a brand name think about it bbx spends millions of dollers flowtesting the exaust system were our 76 station mechanic starts making bends were he needs them.

if you get some shortie 1 5/8 inch headers, you should be cool as long as you get an H or X pipe with cats. Remember, 5.0s have 4 cats. You can pass smog with damn near anything done to your engine since its got 4. If you got the money, get a bassani X pipe. Or, find someone selling their stock H pipe, and get an off road X pipe. Its hard to find a stock H pipe though. Good luck.

Seriously you dont need to shell out the money for a xpipe with highflow cats..When smog season comes your gonna need to use some elbow grease and change your pipes back over to stock, I can get my h-pipe off and stock pipes bolted up in about 1 1/2 hours in my garage

I have used 2chamber flows with turndowns and an excellent stock h-pipe from my 93 mustang which I don't need since there is no way my car will pass smog. If interested let me know. Need to get rid of some parts in my garage :)
