my sentra se-r vs. a mustang gt

man oh man, what a race...

i was heading out of town this morning to go to the bank (paycheck!!) when i hit the last stoplight in town. i noticed a redish-maroonish mustang next to me that was a gt (not a cobra), but thought nothing about it. i glanced over and noticed that the driver looked to be in his 30's or 40's and he glanced over and me. then, he revved! i was like "good god, he wants to go!" i figured, hey i might as well see what i have against a 5.0 so i revved back. he just gave me a huge smile like "ohh your ass is so toasted" and i was thinking the same thing, but ohh well.

anyways, the light goes yellow and i hear no revving from him, which was kinda a shocker. i'm revving at 2500 and the light goes green and i dump it, off like "whoa" i am. i am off and i hear him take off, he has an automatic! i shift into second and the lead i had at the start is slowly closing up, i shift into third and we are dead even! i hit about 5500 in third and he edges ahead of me. once i hit 4th he had about a carlenght on me and i though "ehh this is fast enough" so i honked and turned on my flashers to let him know he got me. i pulled up beside him and he gave me a big smile and a thumbs up and then jetted off onto the highway.

man, that was fun. i thought they'd be faster, guess it was the automatic. they're said to take a decent chunk of power away.

the automatic mustangs r about a full sec slower...unless u have a torqe conveter in it....good run though....what all have you done to your ride?

How did you know that it was a 5.0 and not a 4.6?Just curious...

thanks all, my sentra does have some balls, and i love iot to death. i treat her like it's my life. cleaned every week, make sure it's fully maintained, park a mile out of no where to make sure it doesn't get hit, etc.

neonflyer, i have done 2.25 inch exhaust from the catalytic converter back into a arospeed tunable bomb muffler. that and a k&n drop-in filter, that's it.

mike, it had a 5.0 sound to it. coulda been a 4.6, it just sounded like a 5.0.

navamous, like i said to neonflyer. it's a '91. btw, thanks for the compliment on the sound. around here it's called the "pissed off bumble bee" car. :D

well the easy way to tell if it is a 5.0 is the older body style like 93 and older are 5.0s but if it was a 94 or 95 it is hard to tell cause ppl change shit on those cars all the time.

when i was mustang shoppin, i drove an auto stang gt, it was a dog, but with a few mods, those c4's can be pretty fast.

best way to tell is the tail lights and the "gt" badging on the side. 5.0's say "gt mustang" and the others say "gt 4.6". 5-0's have horizontal lights and 4.6's got verticals
