Remove the Negative wire from the battery for a period of no less than 10 minutes. If you have an air bag system bump that up to 20 minutes. The air bag cars have capacitors in the system to maintain power to fire off the air bag, so there is still residual power in the system. Once this is done start up the car and drive it normally for a period of 10-15 miles, this will allow the computer to relearn the driving charactoristics of the car, to include the new airflow it is receiving through the new intake.

for your accord...
-warm up your car (drive to blockbuster and return that late ps2 game)
-turn off car..(if you have a factory deck....make sure you gots the code for it)
-pull your backup/ ecu fuses... (negative battery cable will work too)
-let it sit for 3 minutes..
-plug fuses back in (or negative battery cable)
-start car...
-don't step on the throttle at all...don't put any loads on the car (AC/heater)
-allow car to sit for 5 minutes and relearn it's air flow specifications/fuel curves.
-turn off car
-start car and do watever you want...the ecu is reset.
info from helm....

Hey, I never heard about resetting the ECU but sounds like a really good idea huh?
Well anywayz, i'm about to put my new air intake on and replace that black box airfilter. Will all of this work on my 99 Eclipse to reset my ECU? or Is it a different procedure for my car to reset it?
Thanx!

i'm pretty sure all cars are the same, but it wouldn't hurt to try either way right?

go for it...
since i wouldn't kno how to on a dsm...do the universal method ;) ..follow my method above, but use the negative battery cable instead of the backup fuse.

I do my ECU after any mod to my car. And ALL CARS ARE THE SAME.
I also do the Negative on the Cars BAT.. and then when it is off, I turn the key in the egnition and hold it on START for a second. then wait like 3min, hook back up, and it works.
IMPORTANT: car should be at main operating temperature...when the car sets itself. so drive around before you reset.
If the Clock in the car, or on your Cd-deck didnt reset, then chances are you still had ambiant power left in the system and didnt do a full drain.
Peace,
