I dropped the blower in favor of a stroker kit and nos set up, got the car back on the road with the 347 kit and it runs great...ditched the vortec tint job in the back windshield, went back to 15% black tint, not very legal but it looks great on the black car, tossed in a new clutch while I had the motor out, went all forged bottom end and had the block worked over at the local machine shop, running 10:1 compression, went to 24# injectors...slapped a Z cam from ford racing in there...trick flow everything I could get lol thats about it.
Peace,
Alex

sounds good and all. I'e heard though the the 347 is not a strong motor as compared to a 331. ever think about putting the blower on the 347?

I'm planning to start with a 100 shot then move to a 150 shot. the engine was rebuilt as a 347 with nitrous in mind not boost, the machine shop worked the block for me and its built properly, ie. correct gapping, everything decked properly, fel pro loc-wire head gasket. the cam specs are 228/228 and .575 lift at .50 btdc. I had the 24# injectors on the 302 once with the blower and it was running rich. I agree the compression would be high for a blower but with spray I've heard from several friends that 10:1 will run on 93 octane fine. I'm running trick flow twisted wedge track heat heads, they have 61 cc chambers and 2.02 1.60's. I'm happy with the way they're flowing. the 1.6's give a little more lift, I'm thinking I might go back to 1.5's on it if I run into issues, but I'm happy with it for now. If I decide to go back to boost I'll get some bigger dishes for the thing. anyhow I've built a few engines I'm pretty sure this one will hold up. worse comes to worse I'll run bigger injectors and or drop the compression. but so far everything is running good. thanks for looking.
Peace,
Alex

very nice choice...My 87 GT is bored out to a 308 and I have a 175 shot of NOS on it. A very fun vehicle to race!

Yeah? How much of an overbore is that?

Should be a 40. Why not a 30 for 306?

i'd agree with bigger injectors as well... esp with tfs heads... i wouldnt be suprised if you'd have to run higher fuel pressure and like 100% duty cycle and as for 347 vs 331 i heard that the main "weakness" had to do with the angle of the stroke and the piston rings not sealing properly creating a blowby issue, however i have a friend who just built a 347 and he said that the old durability issues with the 347 have been worked out and that he hasn't ran into any problems.

Let's see if he recognizes what 30 and 40 actually mean. :naughty:
