Between the crank and the rear wheel, motorbikes loose on average, around 12.5% of there power (BHP). I have been told that for cars, its a far greater %...especially for 4wd cars. Does anyone know the average Crank to wheel losses for FR RW and 4WD cars?
Thanks
It also depends on the type of transmission. Autos lose more than manuals, and generally speaking, the more ratios in the box, the more frictional loss.

In addition, RWD cars usually lose a little more hp thru the drivetrain than FWD cars.

Except maybe in a longitudal fwd where there isn't a 1:1 ratio. Also a 9" Ford has 1 or 2% more loss.
