Same car. The 3000GT is the American moniker while the GTO is the name in Japan.

I have a question, though ... did they sell that front end (the lights) here in 99? Or did you import the nose? I'm not sure when the last year of the 3000GT was here, so I'm curious. Very nice!

Yes DK they sold those only on the 99 model. And yes they did sell them on the U.S. model =)

Its the big park you see on Naglee, in between Park and Bascom....About a mile from Valley Fair....Near Lincoln HS, and Hoover Elementary School.....Bascom Ave.....any of this ringing a bell?

Actually I think you might be thinkin of my buddy AJ. He has a 99 vr4 as well and its also black. But his car was totally stock last time I saw it. I'm usually over in the Sunnyvale area more or you may catch me driving down saratoga ave sometimes since I live in that area.

very nice very nice. i have a friend with a vr-4 and he is doing a single turbo t-66 conversion and has designed and made a manifold for this. i thought it was cool and everything, but then i was thinking, why the heck would he want to do something so custom? aren't there a lot of upgrades for the gto, and even single turbo conversion kits? just curious.

Actually there aren't. There are very few places to buy after market parts for 3000gt/gto. They have basic things (boost controller,intake,exhaust,gauges,etc). But turbo upgrade? Not really.Hks makes an upgrade but its a joke and isn't worth the money. Most of the turbo upgrades will have to be custom. Now why your friend is going to a single turbo is beside me. That wouldn't make any sense because the 3000gt is one of the heavier sports cars. With that big ass turbo he is gonna have some massive lag and could end up hurting his transmission/transfer case.

Right now..i'm pushin around 410-420hp. Thats just a ballpark. I'm gonna go down to LA soon to dyno it. Its hard to find an awd dyno =(. I ran last year at sears point and pulled 12.8@107. I think I could have done a little better but at the time it was like 102 degrees. Hot as hell. And we all know it sucks when its hot outside for turbo cars. I eventually wanna get a nos kit and set it up to spray my intercooler so I don't have to worry about the heat as much.
