'89 Pontiac Lemans GSE (~80k miles) for $350-500 be a good deal?
My friends aunt picked it up from an auction for about $285 and the thing runs like shit. However, due to the spotty (fine at some rpm, dead at others) acceleration and it's inability to idle below 1k rpm w/o stalling I'm pretty sure the electronic carb is the problem, there also are cooling issues but these could be from the dead radiator fan and (most likely) alternating lean and rich conditions. Other than that it feels good, the brakes and driveline feel alright.
There just happens to be an early 80's pontiac 2000 sitting in the yard with the only problem being a shitty cam. If I could successfully swap over the carb, radiator, and radiator fan would this be a worthwhile purchase?
Another bonus would be having parts-car handy (extra block, drive-train etc...).
Edit- This seems to be an opel kadett e/daewoo nexia, and if fixed could be a fun little car!
