Sometime in the summer of '05 around mid to late august before a I start college I plan to go travel for a few weeks. I was thinking about either tokyo or backpack around france, spain, switzerland, around that area. I think that going to tokyo would cost more than going to EU, am I right? Where do you think would be the most fun, I'll be 18 and I don't know what the club ages and drinking age is in tokyo. Also my girlfriend might be going to the philippines with her family to visit family, but I heard that its not wise for white americans to go, I don't know why? any input on that? thanks in advance.

japan is like more towards younger people. it's like wild, clubbing, cars, and stuff. food is great too, so is the nightlife. europe is mroe if you want to relax, enjoy the sights, etc. i would go to japan, even though it is a bit expensive

i backpacked through europe a couple years ago and it was the most exciting thing i have ever done. European nightlife shits on Japans, period. I would highly recommend it, more to do, more to see, more to experience. Just make sure you don't go alone.

Yeah, from what I've heard, some parts of Europe are pretty crackin. Spain has a very "wild" nightlife. It's true, just don't go alone -> enjoy it with someone....
