'96 Z28 vs '96 Cobra

coming home from work made it my day :D I made a left turn onto San Tomas going opposite of traffic, so I checked the rear view, and with no popo in sight I got on it for a 2 gears which caught the attention of a Z28 that was behind me. I slowed to a stop at the next light and I heard the Z down-shifting. He hung back for a moment and crawled up next to me. At this point he revved his Camaro and said "I'm right here" (must of been referring to my license plate frame that says "Here Chevy Chevy Chevy). I revved my car and said "not for long". I brought the revs up to 2500 (on street tires) and when that light hit green, we were off. He had the jump on me from the line, both of us had tirespin. I hit 2nd at 6800 and pulled dead even with him. 3rd at 6800 and with me a fender ahead. I didn't want to go much more because I was in 4th at 105, so I shut down, gave a thumbs up and made the next right. Good kill for me. The car is getting that 1 mod that I was waiting for my tax return to come in for next week. About damn time too!! :D

Nice kill BTW....i can see how he got you off the line...those LT1's(or is it LS-1?) have a lot of torque, but its nice to see that you gave the blue oval a good name with that one!!! Im a true Ford fan at heart...what can i say....imports are just cheaper...

rear end gears. One of the best bang fo rthe buck you can do on a Mustang. I'm switching from 3.27's to 4.30 gears. Should drop my 1/4 mile time down to a 13.4-13.5 range with traction. $300 to drop .3 in a 1/4 mile time, hell yeah!

Chris: I'm heading up to Sears Point next wednesday to run teh car before I get the gears. I want to see if they really drop off what most Mustang guys claim they do. What are you doing friday night? We're getting the Cobras together in Milpitas, a whole bunch of them. Let me know.

Brazen: it should take it up to high 150 range, but I think I have a factory limiter set at 150, I'm not sure. Mustangs aren't really aerodynamic.

wednesday or saturday? I'm kinda lucky that I got this wednesday as a half day, I had to kiss ass to get it. April 28th is my last day of work at my weekend job, May 5th my last day for my mionday-friday job. I move on the 5th to Sacramento so I'll be there alot once I move up.
