They're as expensive as a FR Porsche to own, but I think Neofreak was referring to the idea that handing the keys of an RX7 to a sixteen year old is a death sentence for the poor car.

Latest results. 16 year old driver who thought he was the shit.

The cars typically last a month or so when in the hands of kids.

FC. I personally like how the FD looks, but the FC is not too bad either. I heard that when engine upgrades are done, for the same price, the hp and torque numbers are about even. Also, I think the FC would be less heavy - just my guess. Stock, I think FC is 205 and the FD is 255 hp though. I've had friends with either ones, and the quickness is equal, but the money spent is higher for the FD.

Thats true. With equal upgrades output is about equal. However prices for upgrades are not automatically cheaper for the FC. They're about the same as well. So if you were to get an FC, don't expect to be able to upgrade it on a budget.

FDs are lighter. My base 95 is "2789lbs" vs my 89 at "2845lbs" (quoted weights, mine are slightly lighter due to upgrades)

Stock Zenki FC TurboII (87-88) is 180bhp. Kouki (89-91) is 200bhp.

Expect a kouki TurboII to be double or tripple in price though. They're much more rare/desirable.

If you kids really want a FC, start with a zenki NA (146bhp). You're less likely to kill yourself/others. Plus they're cheap and plentiful. You can always convert it to a TurboII later on, or just sell it and get another when you're ready to move on.

If you get an rx7 at 16 you'll pay. Trust me. When I flipped my Miata I was in the hospital for almost a month, and what did I come home to? A POS Geo Storm that I had to drive for a year. sad times.
