Any suggestions for parts washer solution? I need something that's friendly on aluminum. I don't mind water-based, as long as it works.

Nothing fancy, just a 20 gallon washer.

EZClean was always cool...

There are 2 EZClean companies though, one company that does things for the Car Washing systems and the other that does industrial strength cleaning agents, like the ones used for cleaning parts.

Hrmm... Has anybody used Berryman's carb dip in a parts washer? How about Gunk CR? I know that Gunk can be cut with kerosene...

safty kleen can suck a fat donkey nut... they overcharge you, under service your washer, then report you to EPA when you cancel your account with them for not having a hazardous waste managment company.

call napa parts... they have this sollution called ozzy juice... its what we use at my day job... works very well... at least with a heated machine... and its environmentally safe... or if you just have a harbor frieght type washer like me, simple green or citrus based cleaners work good... we use simplegreen.

I was thinking about Simple Green, but the problem is that it's not particularly compatible with aluminum, and it's got nothing in it to prevent flash rust on steel.

really? ive been washing oil/dirt soaked intakes in the simplegreen for a while now... no bad afteraffects yet. havent really used it on steel yet.

Yup. Simple Green's website FAQ even says not to leave anything that's bare aluminum in contact with SG for more than 10 minutes, and to rinse everything thoroughly.

Today at Formula D I asked the VP rep if they made anything, and he gave me a brochure for their line of Mr. Moto cleaning products (http://www.mrmotoproducts.com/solvitanswer.html?mgiToken=0C15B7C813665511784). Anybody use this stuff?

Hmmm I think simple green oxidizes aluminum I have soaked pistons in it before and they get a layer of something on them. Berrymen works ok but man dont get it on your skin!!! I know we used to use something and I dont know what it was called but worked well. Some kind of solvent .We had tried simple green and castrol super clean but it just didnt get it so we stepped up to the regular napthalene(sp?) or something like that. I have only heard it pronounced and there is no gaurantee these f0ckers can pronounce anything close to right. Anybody ever use wizeco pistons? yes I said wiz-e-co pistons LOLOL.

Try MSC Granger etc...maybe J&L industrial and see what you find there i bet there is something.
