Just don't step on the gas so damn hard. I have a J-spec motor, no cat, and no air pump attached to it. Mine is excessively loud when pushed and you could smell car from a mile away. Yet I've never got a ticket, why? Because I drive like a old lady when not racing. Just keep the speeding and the pounding of gas pedals out of the streets.
And as for the races....people who go to races, race or just spectate, with those fixed-up cars are just plain stupid. You know they're gonna give you a ticket no matter what you say...so why bother? Set up private races or go to legal tracks. I don't know but this seems like pretty reasonable solution don't you think?
I don't think it will work since the cops use their "professional visual judgement" instead of hearing judgement. Any exhaust tip that's over 3" on an import will get citied regardless of the noise level.

ya that advise doesn't really work when a cop asks you to rev it so he can hear it

Legal Track. Build one locally and I'll be there every weekend.

Even though an FC3S is a sports car, I think that police don't look at them as the racer type. I think they look for fixed up honda's then anything. I'm not trying to start anything, just an opinion i have.

Why don't you weld a cable actuated cutout before your cat? That way, you would avoid the cat and noise ticket, and have close to no back pressure. you could throw the stock muffler back on and be totally invisible to the cops.
So does not having a smog pump make your car louder?
