okay owners,

I need some honda tecky help here.. situation is like this. I was working on a 95 int. LS special. and i accidently took off the tensioner bolt. No problem i tighten it up later.. but i have to line up the cams to up but the tensioner is loose so i have to adjust it manually. No problem there and it was done.. but here is the problem. Crankshaft. I don't know how many times i turned it. It know i have to turn it twice to get the piston line up right but i don't remember how many times i turned it.

Is there a way to know what position the piston is at or do i have to take off the head and see if it is line up right. If i have to take off the head, it is a big job and i don't want to do that.

My main concern right now is, i don't want the valves to bend as honda is known for bending valves.

Please help
Mike

Here is what you need to do:

Get a crank degree wheel that fits on the end snout of your crank. (Should be available from a dealership or a parts store.) With the head on, remove all of the spark plugs and place a bolt (I don't know how long, you'll have to talk to a honda tech) in the closest splark plug hole to where the degree wheel is. From there, turn the crank until it hits the bolt. Write down the degree. Now tunr the crank the opposite way until it hits the bolt. Write that down. Divide the two angle you have written down by 2 and that will give you the degree that the crank needs to be at for TDC.

This is kind of hard to do at first, so I would recommend having a friend that knows your engine help you OR tow it to a mechanic. The reason I say it is hard is because if you screw up, your valves will become very intimate with your pistons, which bis what vwe are trying to avoid.

Good luck.

thats too techy. Take your dipstick, stuff it into the #1 cylinder through the spark plug hole, move the car till it pops out as far as it can, and you hear the air pushing out of the hole (compression). Set the cams from there.
