Several month ago, my cars back licence plate was stolen in San Diego. I noticed it when I found a ticket for not displaying licence. I tried to get new licence plate from DMV but lines were too long. So I got an appointment for 3 weeks later, however during that time I got 2 more tickets for the same (no licence plate on back). I had nowhere else but street parking.
Any idea whether I have a defense against these tickets? my court date is next week.
Any hints will be appreciated

did you file a police report for a stolen liscence plate?
if not then you have no defense

that's not necessarily true. You can tell them that you got a previous ticket for not having one, and you went to get a new liscense plate. The only problem was, is that when you went to the dmv and the problem was too long. So you got an appointment to get your new liscense plate from there, and during that time, you got 2 more tickets. Therefore those tickets should be erased from your record because it was an uncontrollable freak accident. That you can't control how the DMV works their system.

Dj, ya gotta remember tho, you're throwing yourself on the mercy of the court. his missing tag is not their problem, it's his.
Hey isi, sometimes ya just gotta bite the big one and be patient in them lines to avoid the penalties. i dint think you'll find any slack because "the lines were too long". Dont know what else to tell ya on that.

kingdom, I'm being nice, mostly b/c I've already logged into my regular account, and I'm too darn lazy right now to log into my mod account.
This thread is about 6 years old. I think, by now, the issue has either been resolved, or this guy has major procrastination issues. :)
Next time you revive an old thread (after I made this post) I WILL not be so kind. You will simply get a 1-day vacation. The rules are posted.
WELCOME TO SRO, and ENJOY your stay!!!
