Other than the dent in the driver rear behind the tire, body is nice and straight. There is some very minor surface rust in places but the body and floors are solid. I'll start ripping it apart in the next few weeks. No I just need to find a home for my 01.

I can't see shit tho.
Lil SS use www.photobucket.com (http://www.photobucket.com) it's free and has a ton of features, you can lock the album and shit if you don't want people to see it, etc.
Plus you get a decent amount of bandwidth.

to see the images you have to COPY the link and PASTE the url in your browser like his post says.
pretty sweet.
I get the same "bandwidth exceeded" error that I got earlier.
I would like to see the car though :sad2:

These are the plans so far..
I think I will be using this for the Front Suspension (http://www.martzchassis.net/page9.htm)
Going to be using this for the Rear Suspension and cage (http://www.summitracing.com/catalogs/bigbook/2004/mayjune/199f.html)
Probably going to use a Chris Alston's Fab 9 rear in the car.
Thanks Contero.
Looks good for the price, good luck.

No truck or trailor to tow with on a regular basis. Plus I like the idea of a street car :)

Everyone has their own idea of a "street car" My visions for a street car consists of 20+mpg, reliability, can drive 150+ miles round trip to the race track and can cruise the strip with out puking its guts out.

there's a local turbo LS1 running high 10s@13x on his pump gas tune (66xwhp) getting 20mpg on the highway. I wanna see what he runs on his race tune (780whp, 8xxtq).

No fast car gets 20 mpg.
My feelings on fast is sub 10's. Now if you tell me 10 second cars can't get 20+mpg I'd be more than happy to show you a list of them and even a couple cars in the 9's getting 20+ mpg.

9's aren't fast for a tubbed car.
I agree with that, however, I have always loved the look of a tubbed car. I probably will just use the large tub tires to street race on the chipseal roads with something like a MT sportsman tire. ET Streets and slicks don't seem to hook as well on them. Plus with a simple coil over unit swap (Front and rear), tire swap and reconnecting the front sway bar, the car should be pretty awesome on the auto cross courses. Something not many 9 second cars are.
Dont start this old argument, Dave. Have we driven all ricers away to the point that you have to go after domestic owners :hehe: Its his car, he can do what he wants to it.

All of you can give me shit for tubbing a car that does not to be tubbed to run low 9's. However, I believe in doing things once so you don't have to do it again. I have no idea where this car will take in in the next 5 or so years. I'm planning on building the chassis and cage to sub 8 second NHRA requirements in the event I ever decide to change the motor trans combo to go faster.
Bah, okay.
Dont "Bah" me you ass goblin :hehe:

Dave,
Please don't stop.. Not to sound like a dick, but rather than being negative all the time why don't you try being helpful and suggest things that might work in someones vision. Input is very important to me when it comes to making something work. Here is what I was thinking about doing (this is just an idea and not a 100% plan yet).
Front Suspension (http://www.martzchassis.net/page9.htm)
Going to be using this for the Rear Suspension, cage and rear end (http://www.summitracing.com/catalogs/bigbook/2004/mayjune/199f.html)
I think you could agree the front end is pretty trick. The rear is something that I am really trying to figure out. I was thinking using the Summit style Fab9 rear but leaving it wide. Since the CE rear suspension comes in 24"/26"/28" widths it will give me some flexability.
Rather than using a deep dish rim for the rear, use something with a large offset. Something like a 15x12 with a 9.5" back space for the large MT sportsman tires. For the Auto X tires I was planning on using something like a 315 on a 17 or 18x10 with a 7.5" or 6.5" back space. Something similar to the auto X wheel but in a 15" for the slicks at the dragstrip. Not exactly sure of the measurements as I have not taken any just yet.
As far as the diagnol link, there are other options like panhard bars. I could use a PH bar for road racing and a D-link for auto x. To integrate both on the rear would not be that hard to do.

I can totaly appreciate your thoughts on keeping it simple with a older SBC. I just really am fond of the LS1. I have a bit of experience with it in regards to tuning / minor building and have a lot of contacts when it comes to buying parts. The other idea of being able to drive it anywhere at any time really sits well with me.
I've thought about a stock style suspension but didn't feel it would be as good for the road coarse / auto-x application hence the coil over 4-link idea. Glad you mentioned the SFI change as I will have to really consider that now. I had my reservations on the CE backhalf and have been talking to Martz a little on that and might talk to Chris Alston / Art Morison a little on it before I make final decisions.
I'm not in a huge rush right now to do the back of the car. I think I am going to start with the front end and get a running LS1 in it even if it is a stocker for now.

3 link is not a bad idea. I moved away from it on my F-body as I did a 8.8 swap in it. I have some time to think about it.

Here are some of the other things that I have seen recently..

http://www.dragracing.ee/pictures/speedest04/imagepages/image123.html
Mind you this is a ladder bar set up, but see how wide it is? I would think something that wide with a 4-link would work pretty well in a road race application. It's not a full tub but he still has a 12.5 out back. How bar you think a ladder bar would handle?
Here is something else I am checking out. I think though it is less of a drag race set up. http://www.nastyz28.com/ubb/Forum10/HTML/005996.html

What causes ladder bind? Having solid ends all the way around? What about using a 3/4 heim for the front and rear rod ends? Wouldn't that give less bind, would it work?
