Hey all....just curious....

why don't more people do stuff to mazda mx-6's? my stepdad has a 94 with the V6 and even though it's an auto it's pretty damn quick.....

like i said just wondering...been looking at modded car pics all day.

I've been wondering the same thing. My sister has one and it's not bad.

And it's FWD. If people were going to buy a Mazda for performance reasons during the early/mid-90s it was gonna be a Miata or RX7.

I totally agree with you. I wasn't rebutting your comment, I was merely adding something on the side. Mazda has been known as a performance/race company for the longest because of the RX cars. Then they go and drop that FF MX-6 on everyone. Well, there was the one before it in the late 80s, which was an I-4t I think ... box-shaped. But the last incarnation was a strange quirky shape -- like an FD stretched or something. I personally find the MX-6 very disgusting to look at or drive. Of course, they also had the MX-3, which had it's appeal, especially the V6 in such a tiny car. Anyways, I just don't think the MX-6 ever had the market of the other cars because of it's strange styling and Mazda's heritage. That second-gen Probe, it's sister, look and sold much better.

At the time (mid 90's) there were 4 to 5 cars in that performance range... The Nissan Maxima, Acura Integra GSR, Volkswagen GTi VR6, Mazda MX6, and Ford Probe GT. There were similar in terms of power, and handling characteristics but not many people bought the MX6 or the Probe GT.

Sure, leave out the 240SX... I oughta punch you in the head, sucka... j/k ;) :D

Dood, it was left out for the one reason you love the car the most -- it's FR like sports cars should be. The cars listed are "sports coupes" (and a sport sedan) w/ FF drivetrains.

I had one. Loved it, it was a great reliable car and pretty fast too for stock. Oh well, if you wanna Zoom-Zoom-Zoom, you hav ot get a Miata, CorkSport JDM Spec MX-3, or an RX-7.

the cars they compared were
Mazda Mx-6/ Probe GT
Nissan 240sx
Toyota Celica
Mitsubishi Eclipse
vw golf
Acura Integra GSR
honda prelude

the Integra won best overall
and i think eclipse was 2nd... even though it was the fastest
