just wondering how old are you domestic drivers on this board? cause it seems like you guys are a lot more mature and nicer compared to the import guys who seem a bit younger, just wondering

Another thing to point out is that there arent to many domestic "crews". why is that?

Good point...I dunno if this is a good thing or a bad thing?

I was wondering about that too. I never heard of crews until I started visiting this site. Are they like real race teams with designated drivers and some fellas that do all the wrenching or are they more like a car club with a bunch of fellas who happen to have certain things in common? If crews are more similar to actual race teams, then I guess you don't see too many domestic crews because I believe most domestic drivers also work on their own cars. Personally, I find it hard to let anybody else but myself or my father, who is a mechanic, work on my car. It's hard to trust anybody to work on your car; I've heard too many horror stories.

17. its pretty much just a group of friends woth common intrest. one person might know how to work on one oart of a car while the other person works on another. i fell what you are saying about only doing work on your car yourself. no one even touches my engine with out me there.

Not all import car fans are ricers.(e.g. ME hehe)
but anyways I think it is true to a certain extent.

But then again a lot of domestic owners bash on import owners so...i dunno.

How come when someone says "import" almost all people automatically assume Japanese cars? Euro cars are imports too...

I'm 24, but I can be an asshole when provoked! ;)

There are a couple of domestic crews runnign around, but they also have quite a few imports in their crews now as well. The biggest domestic crews I know of are Strictly 5.0, Throughbred Racing, TruSpeed, NVS, and Insane Bowties. Most domestics I know just roll solo and hang out with everyone.

Im 22 and Im in what used to be an all domestic crew. But since our crew is made up of friends with fast cars, there are imports too. My apartment is wierd, Im asian driving the Camaro and my white roommate drives a 2000 Type-R and my other roommate is a hong kongese canadian that drives a German VW Golf....hmmmmm...?

for some reason i've noticed that down here in L.A. most people still seem to gravitate more toward domestics or imports, but can appreciate both.

I think domestic guys are nicer because there is less of them than the Ricers. There is less of us because building up a Camaro or Firebird costs more than a Civic or Integra. Import drivers tend to be a little younger because they think that a Civic with a body kit will help them look "cool" among the big boys. I don't drive an import because I happen to love the rumble of a V8 and I want to start out with a little more than 140hp. Either way, racing is racing, drive what you love and love what you drive. Treat all the cars and racers with respect and we'll have a good time.

I'm 18 and had never heard of car crews either...and I've never heard of domestic crews. I guess you might consider Team Chevelle ( http://www.chevelles.com ) my crew!

20 yrs here.

BTW I always thought that import cars were a little more pricey to build that the domestics, they pay like $500 for a muffler when we pay $280 for a whole cat back with two mufflers and chromed pipes.

I think we are cooler-headed more often cause it seems we are way more layed back or something.

I just meant that buying an Integra Type-R or Civic Si is cheaper than a Trans Am or Camaro Z28. Even though the 80s Camaros can be built up to go real fast for cheap. My 5.0 only cost me $4000CAN after all the mods on it, that is pretty cheap. No $4000 Honda is going to keep up with that.

Hey, just checking in with everyone here. I'm cool with everyone *(including Import guys) that's cool with me, but like some other peeps here when provoked, the kid-gloves come off.

I'd heard of car "crews" before I frequented these boards but they were all Import-crews not many domestic-crews where I live.*(that I know of)

Just keep the peace, keep racing, and everythings just cool.

24 and I have owned both, but I have always had atleast one Mustang the whole time! I couldn't stand the thought of having less than 400 ft/lbs of torque, so I sold the Torqueless Wonder aka Honduh CRX!

I'm 17, and I got a domestic because everyone at my high school has a Civic/Eclipse/Integra/Accord Coupe. It made me think "Hey even if I get a Type R there are six others just like mine, so why bother?" There are also lots of Mustangs, a couple Cobras, a Saleen, and two 5.0s. There are NO V8 Chevys of any kind at my school, so I consider myself and my Impala unique.

yer all bigots...like car racism hehe...one minute i am chilling with some guys in a teg all turbo and shit talking import, then the next i am with my cuz and his 76 firebired racing a type r and kicking his ass...it's kinda childish to bring up with post in the first place...they do it on the import board too...

I think that domestic guys might seem nicer cause we're generally a little bit older. Anybody can buy a Honda and start tricking it out but it takes a little more cash hence age to buy much less mod a fully outfitted Z28... I'm lucky to be only 26 and have a 500 horse Z myself.... Not saying young guys can't afford one but GENERALLY the domestic crowd is slightly older.....

Its a different story here in the 614. Im 23, I drive a Nitroused 2.8(True FolK)S10 ext cab, I bought a 75 Nova at 15 for 100 bucks(still building),Im a result of subarbs, and Im really enjoy people like me. The type that when you pull up on another guys car, you complement him , his efforts, his cuts on his hands.

I have met some of the new generation Import guys, but they all frusturate me. I have yet to meet one import guy who has mutual respect, true knowladge of cars of all types. I know there are neat guys out there, but, I havent met them. And chances are I wont. My brother asked to join his buddies car club but they denied him because he drove a domestic.

Tonight I had 4 guys, two fords, one eagle talon driver, pleed with me to start my own club because they respect me, and they love the name 614streets. Hell on main at Jegs east retail store on a sat night here in 614, there are more and more Japanese cars.

P.S. I just pulled a 12 second stang 5.0 out of a notch for my brothers GT. On my page is a link to his arrogant site. I hope to hit his site with pitures of the swap.

21 here. Not sure if all domestic drivers are "nicer." I go by the "everyone is a prick until proven otherwise" mentality :)

Grrr

18...

i don't know about 'nicer', see i live in a hick state, and when i used to drive to some of these smaller towns within 50 miles of the city to 'pick fights(races)' with all those country hotrodders, i met some of the ugliest, white trashy, inbred son's of bitches i have ever seen. most of them worse then what you see on Springer, but they had cool cars and loved to race.

I remember this one time i was talking to this freak that wanted to race, and he was chewing so much tobacco it he started to drool black stuff out of his mouth..

and about the domestic crews, i was thinking of starting one as soon as i get my 5.0hhhhhhhhhhh

20 Here...
I think that the majority of the import guys are younger and havent had experience with cars. They believe in advertisement horsepower. So cold air 20, exhaust 20, chip 20, header 20, strut tower bar 10, 20 spoke rims 10, and Gods good grace 15. So when u add that up they have 135 extra horses on an engine that has 120hp. So thats 255hp and since their car is 500 pounds lighter that means that they car take Z28's and mustangs. Most these guys are 16 and 17 and bought the sporty car cuz they could afford it.
And when i was a teen I was more prone to start shit too.
