I am going to be instlling a set of reverse indiglo gauges on my 99 Civic EX 5 spd. and in the instructions it says to "find out the light's anode & cathode by multitaster (that's what is on the instructions, maybe it is supposed to be multitester) from back of dashboard and connect them." I work at a small town stereo shop and this is the first set of gauges we have done, what is anode & cathode? Which one does the power wire go to?

I called acautotechnic.com today, the people who make the gauges, and they said to hook it to the dash lights on the back of the gauge cluster that dim. That just doesn't sound right from what I have heard. Does anyone have them hooked up like that?
i spliced the wires that connect to the dash lights(that dim) on my 98 accord and connected them up to the indiglo gauge wires with just some electrical tape and it works great...any other way they may not dim when you turn your lights to "accessory" mode or whatever. hope that helps
This is how I remember it. Anode sounds like anus so it's postive (+) and cathode is negative (-). I'm not an engineer for nothing.

First of all, do you live in Commerce, Texas; commercetx? You probably do, but just seeing if you do. I live in Princeton/McKinney. And i'll probably be going to A&M Commerce this fall when i graduate. Maybe we can get together and check out each others cars or something....
Anywayz....I have the EXACT same gauges that i bought online at modacar.com As you can see the back of the box doesn't have very good instructions. On the back on my Eclipse gauge cluster, is was just a like a printed computer board type thing. The point is that, there was no power going through these things. I tried running a connection from the fuse box, but couldn't cause they had some funky a$$ 40amp fuses i've never seen before. So i called Jotech in Garland on Kingsley and they said that you have to connect them by tapping straight into the wires. Well i couldn't do it so i just said screw it and went there and they installed them for me and made it look great for like $20. I'd rather pay $20 and have them installed right and save me the frustration and trying to force things where they dont belong and tearing up my car even more. So i suggest just having them put in by Jotech. They sell the exact ones that we have. Go to Jotech.com to get directions.

I just connected mine to the parking light wire on the back of the gauge cluster. The only thing I don't like about my gauges is that everytime you kill the parking lights the color goes back to the original instead of the one I chose. When you get here to Commerce, drop an email. There's a guy who lives in Plano here but stays in the dorms, he drives a 2000 Maxima.

So you mean that ONLY when just the parking lights are on, your gauges come on, and when you flip to your headlights they go back to the original? The way Jotech did mine, they connected to some wire (i'm not sure which on.) But when i use the factory dimmer, it dims everything BUT my indiglo gauges. So that way i can use the dimmer that came with my gauges to dim them, and my original doesn't show through or affect the indiglos.
I'm going to see if i can stay here at home for freshman year, and then move out there or something like that. I don't want to stay in the dorms really, due to cost and my g/f is a junior in highschool. But i'm not sure if freshmen HAVE to stay in the dorms or if they have a choice. Do you know? If they have to stay at the dorms, i'll probably just go to CCCC for the first year and then transfer there. When you sell you civic, what are you going to get?

My Gauges are hooked to the prking light wire so they stay on even with my headlights but if I choose the last color which is all blue and then turn off my lights and turn them back on they go to the original green. As for school, I think they are in the process of setting up a new program for freshman and building new dorms for freshman only in a program to help freshman get used to college life but they just broke ground so it will be a couple of years till built. I don't think you have to stay in the dorms if you don't want to. I took all my basic courses at a Junior College firts and then transferred over here for the major ones. I can't stand dorms either, living in an aparment a block off campus. I got guns to so I can't live on campus.

Yea i seen the new dorms that they're STARTING to build when i went up there. Hey gimme one of them there guns that way i can live off campus!! Haha!
Anyways, i think my gauges might be a little different from yours then. My gauges came with like a little off and on switch and a dimmer switch. Where the little off and on switch changes it from blue to green. And i just leave it on blue, everytime i turn my car on.....they're blue! Gotta love the color blue, that's what color i'm painting my car after i get me body kit

If you do decide to live in Commerce make sure you got plenty of insurance to cover your extras or at least an alarm. My neigbors have been hit twice, I'm lucky-got an alarm. I have the reverse indiglo gauges
