i was wondering how hard would it be to re-open fremont drag or something onlong that line..Open a drag strip like sacramento's quant little strip. Instead of always busting us for running help us open a track so we can get these urges out. Since the fierce oposition for the power plant in coyote valley, why not a bay area drag strip, best of both worlds; a place for us to run and we're in a safer enviroment...just my humble oppinion:confused: . i'm tired of being followed because i drive a nice old skool mustang....hell even bring out sjpopo and have u run against us and see who has the better skill....i think back in the day there was "Beat the Heat" in fremont drags :D .....Would it really be that hard to get funding to open a strip, even open a gas station, food establishment, convience store, bays to work on racers, motorsport shop......just an idea or am i way off in dream land...i'm tired of drivin to sac to get some "legal" runs in and test any new mods and see how it measures on the et of the 1/4....

It has been tried like once every 5 years since the strip closed. The city council always votes it down. It would take alot of money, there isn't much left of it except some cement patches about every 10 yds. I love the idea too, they always have stuff for younger kids, why not older ones? They could charge a nominal fee and I would bet that the city would make a killing off of it, but Fremont can't seem to get past the "It'll be too loud" phase. Damn politics.

why not....we should use the government for our advantage and get some land dedicated like sac's raceway....its small and bye the airport...so who cares about the sound....sign petions, hell they wanna stop racing why not help us...we aren't all bad guys just misunderstood....:D :D

Who knows why they won't reopen it, I could name off all sorts of excuses that the city will bring up if you present the idea. I just think they wouldn't want to use up too much money, cause it could take awayt from there bonuses. about the only way it will happen will be if there is a huge following with people willing to raise up some of the money and labor to help get the strip back into working condition.

yes we need to start thinking about other counties, as steckler has sugested. what counties have alot of land, are close, and fair to people? gilroy might be and option have you ever taken the freeway out there? all that is there is hills and a golf course but maybe the golf course would complain about the noise.?
You guys are smoking crack!
After the race Fremont Police Nazi crew will be waiting for you at exit to have your car inspected to be on public road.
I remember they did someting like like when 94.9 promoted a party at Celebrity when it was open. Fremont Cops Blocked the Road and start checking for DUI's. That was most fucked up thing I have seen. Everyone in the world knows that a lot of people who comes out of the 21+ Club have a little buzz. Enough to get DUI.
I'm afriad that those Nazi will pull something like that if Track reopen again.

The price of land in gilroy is going to skyrocket when (if) they put that cisco systems campus in. Yeah, they may not need it now that they layed off half their people, but things will pick up. The price of land has probaly went up just on the idea that that place might be built.

Nothin can be built on that land. Here is some posts from other threads.

ok...this is from segment 2 on sat. Fred Inglis (Fox reporter) says "council man Bill Pease says don't blame the city of fremont, the santa fe railroad has always owned that property and it was them who dropped the drag strip's lease in order to lure big business.....they are still luring." Council man Bill Pease says "I wish it was still there but economics, dollars, and cents...we can not control it." Well now when it comes down to dollars and cents can't NHRA, IHRA, IRDC, and the former commissioner of F1 handle that part? I'm assuming the economics part falls in the same category.

Just did a search for info on the old Fremont track. Found this on a photographer's page:
""Alas, Fremont went the way of so many tracks in California; increased land values were more important to developers than racing. After the track was demolished, developers found that it qualified as a toxic SuperFund site, and couldn't affordably be developed. While all of the structures were razed and most of the track bulldozed, there still exists small reminders of the staging lanes and starting line. It's kinda creepy.""
So one of the reasons nothing was built in Fremont is because the dirt is toxic. It costs lots of $$ to have the contaminated dirt removed too.

DUI is different from equipment checks. Cops do DUI checks everywhere (most concerts I've been to). What do you have that is illegal? A loud exhaust? Blue lights? WTF is the point of those blue lights anyway?

and really- DUI is one of those real crimes. If you are blowing over .08- you don't need to be driving.
Funny thing is- most drunk drivers will tell you the next morning- yeah, when the test comes back I don't tink it will be that high. My last friend that told me that blew a .14, even though he told us he wasn't that hammered until he got the lab results.
My question is: If you're grown up enough to drink, shouldn't you be old enough to realize you have to be responsible?
