My best friend has a Beretta, but my other friend says he could beat him with an Acura Legend. I wanted to know in your guy's opinion, could an Acura really beat a Beretta?

their both pretty terrible, racing them would be a waste of hydrocarbons

the outcome of the race doesnt matter, theyve both already lost.

legend will win though, as long as its 91+.

Berettas = doesnt get much slower. Legend = Not willfully driven by people under 45. Just race and see what happens, dont be surprised if the spectators get bored after the first few seconds and walk away to stare at a tree or something.

a legend is a beautiful car too bad some kids gonna trash it trying to race it. im not 45 and i damn sure would sport one. a stock one...its not a flippin race car.

sorry im not trying to be an ass but i think this needs to be said.

the best way to detemrine the outcome of stuff like this is take it to the track and run the car see what happens. its a WOB discussing it here.

couldnt you get a Beretta GTZ with a 180hp quad 4 and a 5 speed?

Moloko

Yeah, the GTZ wasnt half bad, and the quad 4 made power..... but the quad 4 also didnt like staying in one piece.

Don't be talking trash, berettas are nice cars, I own one myself. It is very reliable, I have never had a problem with it and I've driven it 20,000 miles already, the only things were just regular maintainance. Yeah they aren't made for racing or anything but they are great cars for the daily driver. Atleast I can stomp a civic and weak cars like that tho, hahah.

waste of gas. dont bother. 1 car is a semi-luxery cruiser, the other, well, the other is a point a to point b'er.

I will be one of the last to argue about reliability of a car. But at the same time if you're going to race a car you better bring something decent to the table. ;)

Oh, and I think this match will go to the Legend. But more than likely the Corvette cruising by you guys will win. :p

Heh heh. I got a Legend. There are two types. One with 200HP and the other with 230HP. They are heavy as fuk. They are one reliable car though. Can go over 300,000 miles with regular maintance. I love my car. I know its not for racing and its a family car. But then again, most car were not meant for racing, yet people still race them.

OOhh. there is one Legend in the Bay Area that is really quick for it's class. 4-door Legend that runs mid to low 13's. When he fine tunes it, chances are he'll be hitting 12's.

Just remember, There are people who will fix up and race any cars. Old school Bugs, PT cruisers, late 80's Caravans, bus, etc. People just want to be different. Those are true pioneers because they can't just go to any speedshop and purchase performance parts over the counter. They would either have it custom made or get it from a scarce source. just my .02 cents.

making a bad decision and throwing money into a car that has little potential or aftermarket support is not being a pioneer. so stop that right now.racing what you have is cool, just accept the limitations that your vehicle has and most all be realistic with your expectations.

you are aware that you can get a PT Cruiser with the 2.4L Turbo SRT4 engine, right?

Eh, I wouldnt go knocking on Berettas. They may take a lot more searching for parts and a little more money to mod but they can be be quick little cars. Some people don't know that they are the little brother to the corvette and camaro and was actually going to be the car to cancel the camaro until GM developed other plans.

I'd rather own a car and pour money into one that no one else owns than have the same thing everyone else does.

Yes, with enough money...any car will be quick. But a Beretta will never be little.

Little brother to the Corvette and Camaro...how? It has more in common with a Cavalier than a Corvette.

little brother to the 'vette/camaro? they are more like the second cousin with the learning disability that nobody talks about. what are you smokin'? they are all made by chevrolet, other than that i can off hand see no similarities. i am sure if you look hard enough you can find some parts that interchange like climat control knobs, third brake light....etc. why work so hard tryin to go so slow......you can build whatever you want, but don't try to pretend that racing a beretta, cavalier, yugo, hyundai excel geo metro...etc. is anything more than a waste of time and effort.

Aye

Read up on your information. GM and Chevy designed only three cars in their sports car studio - the corvette, the camaro, and the BERETTA. Do some reserach, you might be suprised. Oh, and the Cavy and Beretta are nothing alike.

I don't know I like my beretta a lot. For people who don't have thousands of dollars to dish out this car is pretty quick for the low price you pay. With the quad 4 5 speed model I think it puts out close to 190HP stock.

And the Probe was going to be the replacement for the Mustang. I'm sure the reasoning behind the decision not to go forward with the Camaro replacement was based on the same reasons the Mustang replacement didn't happen: the public was disgusted that a classic V8 RWD muscle car would be replaced with an anemic FWD econocoupe.

it is econo car, you can love it all you want. just don't come in trying to call it a sports car or anything else it is not. do not even try to bring price into the argument, I have bought mustang 5.0's for $600.00. i am the first to enjoy building something different. i have raced everything from two stroke twins to a kawasaki that was as old as i am. if you choose to build something odd, accept its limitations. do not try to convince us how cool you are for building and racing this hoop-te.
