I put a new deck in my nissan this past weekend and replaced the worn out front speakers with a pair of pioneer 6x9's. We got them in fine and everything, and they worked great. But it was wet and rainy all day today, and when I went to leave school this afternoon, i turned on the stereo and found that the passenger side speaker was crackling, so I was like what the hell and turned off the stereo, but the scratching/crackling didnt stop and continued to get louder until it was almost unbearable. And the only way I could get it to stop was by turning the key off, once I turned the key back on the noise would come back, and the radio was off the whole time. So I drove it home with terrible sounds in my ears until eventually it faded it out, but then it appeared that the passenger side speaker had blown, as I could barely hear it. I talked to my dad about it and he said something probably got wet from the rain, and may have screwed it up. But earlier tonight I went to check it and it seemed to be working well. Anyone know of something like this happening, did the water leaking into the door panel fuck something up?

I know this sounds kind of stupid, but are you sure you hooked them up right? If they kept playing even though you had you stereo turned off, maybe you hooked them up to the wrong hot wire. Just food for thought.

Well they must be getting power all the time, but that doesnt explain the noises.

Maybe it's not leaking in the door panel...check behind the deck too.
Check the connections, look for a bad ground in the harness, check polarity in the speaker connections and check the wire insulation.
It sounds initially like the polarity of the speaker connections were reversed, but water may have seeped in to the coil and damaged it.

speakers are AC devices, so the 'polarity' isn't going to cause any noise issues....did you run new wire into the door?...through the factory grommet perhaps?....are either of the leads touching the door frame?....if both were touching, the energy stored in the coil could travel a couplete circuit, possibly causing the noise...

we worked on it today, I think it was just that some water leaked on to the old shitty nissan amplifier-circuit board things that we left in there, so we took those out and all seems to be well. Thanks for the help though guys.
