little *whoosh* sound when switching gears

I was walking to school, saw a MR2 driving by and heard a *whoosh* sound when he switched gears. Dont really know if it goes *whoosh* its more like compressed air getting released. I remember reading up about it on the boards, i think it was a FnF discussion or something lol, but having a hard time trying to find that post again. My friend said its a turbo, but im sure its something else. Alright, thanks for the replies, thanks in advance.

It's the shifter. When you double-clutch, it goes *whoosh!*

it releases pressure in the charge pipes (anything between turbo and throttle). not the intake manifold.
