anyone got a msd digital 6 with the msd coil hooked up in their car? mine isn't working right and i'm not sure what the problem is. it misfires under heavy load (WOT) or high rpms. i got a 90 celica alltrac 4wd turbo. same motor as a mr-2 turbo. any ideas?

i have the 6a and coil on my car, do you have the msd distributor cap too, how do you have it hooked up, one of my friends blew his distributor beacuse he hooked the thing strait to the battery, also check the grounds, mine didnt work at first because of this and also because i had the wiring wrong inside the distributor, how do you know it is misfiring also?

there isn't an aftermarket distributor available for my car. i hooked the power straight from the battery and grounded the box to my engine. original ignition leads go a tach/fuel adapter which then goes to my box. the coil leads go from the box to the msd coil.
under load or high revs, the car starts to put black smoke and kangaroos around.
i have my plugs gapped at .032 with magnecor 8.5mm wires. i am going to try regular coppers. i have used plats and iridiums.
i'll try loking for carbon tracking around the dizzy and rotor but other than that i dunno what else to look at for now.

i dont know what the problem is but i would have someone look at because my friend with an ls hooked it up wrong and totally fucked his shit up, had to get a new distributor and i think he blew his tach cluster too for some reason, how do you have the coil hooked up?

original coil goes to tach/fuel adapter then to box.. from box it goes to the msd coil.
i did have someone else look at it too. nothing is installed wrong. i think it's something to do with cap, rotor, wires, or maybe even the alternator.
this is what was given to me on our gt4 list but no one else has a digital 6. they do have crane installed tho.
i'll check that stuff some more.
thanks.

did you try changing the revlimiter on the digital 6. what rpm is bogging at. The problem is probably the 2 step kicking in. We just installed a digital 6 in a 2000 prelude. Not a very good idea. anyways try setting the 2 step on a higher rpm then your car should run fine

the jacobs fell apart for my friends car. msd works for my others friend's.. crane may be better for my car but i'm stuck with the msd.
i have my limiter set at 7000 and i have the momentary switch wire grounded.
retard set at 0.
misfires on freeway when i gas it up.
misfires when i WOT.
misfires when boost kicks in high.
misfires under heavy load.
